US dollars. Which bank should I rob?

With the advent of e-mail verification, finally members has a clear advantage. Or at least, that's how it seems to me. Because of this I've decided to get my Pesos into gear and change them for some Universal(TM) dollars. ECON 101 Exam. You have (...) (23 years ago, 18-Jun-01, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: US dollars. Which bank should I rob?

(...) I think James wants to become a financial member of Lugnet. (...) Don't go to Amex, they charge AU$ 8 to convert. Especially for US$10. pete.w (23 years ago, 18-Jun-01, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: US dollars. Which bank should I rob?

(...) This is a blank page... (...) Well the two sources I've used have been Western Union to make a transfer, well i was collecting money from there. Their advantage is that its readily accepted in America and they have an office in Sydney (maybe (...) (23 years ago, 18-Jun-01, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: US dollars. Which bank should I rob?

James... dunno if this will help or not, and excuse me I sort of skimmed through a few posts so I am probably drunk-like as far as reading this stuff goes right now... blah, blah... anyway I take it you need $10 US? If so email me asap! I can do (...) (23 years ago, 18-Jun-01, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: US dollars. Which bank should I rob?

If you are a PayPal member, you can pay that way (or at least you could, not sure about now), cheaper than most of the conversion sources around. Other than that, I was getting a good deal at the local NAB, where they were only charging me the (...) (23 years ago, 18-Jun-01, to lugnet.loc.au)

(...) However, we NNTP-using members will doubtless find it a pain in the bum. This will be my first posting since the advent of verification. Kerry (23 years ago, 18-Jun-01, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: US dollars. Which bank should I rob?

(...) It is a pain-in-the-bum! To send a message via NNTP, you have to visit a WWW site to confirm it. This is a real nuisance if you compose messages off-line and then briefly connect to send them. Now you have to hang around to get an email sent (...) (23 years ago, 18-Jun-01, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: US dollars. Which bank should I rob?

It might not be intentional but lugnet will become a closed off private club which was what I have said all along. Most newcomers could not be bothered mucking around with these new protocols and will go back to the free and easy rec.toys.lego. So (...) (23 years ago, 18-Jun-01, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: US dollars. Which bank should I rob?

Hi James, Westpac works for me, but I do have a mastercard account with them. The only hassle is the queue which always takes 10 to 15 minutes to get through. I tend to always have about $20 US in ones and fives to pay for all the little spare parts (...) (23 years ago, 18-Jun-01, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: US dollars. Which bank should I rob?

I replied to this yesterday, but my post seems to have disappeared in the changeover to email verification: (...) The $A has been on a fairly constant downward slide against the US$ for 30+ years (possibly since WWII?) - I can still remember (...) (23 years ago, 18-Jun-01, to lugnet.loc.au)

Posting to Lugnet Was: US dollars. Which bank should I rob?

This will be even worse for those of us who connect and post with our little PDA's, which aren't even capable of going to a website, just to hit 'confirm'. I do ALL of my lugnet reading and posting via email, often with my little Newton while on the (...) (23 years ago, 19-Jun-01, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: Posting to Lugnet Was: US dollars. Which bank should I rob?

(...) Dave, You should post these concerns & ideas to .admin.nntp as well. The more feedback Todd gets, the more likely we will end up with a reasonable solution. I'm unhappy with the new system, and I post using the web 99% of the time! ROSCO (23 years ago, 19-Jun-01, to lugnet.loc.au)
