Re: LEGO disappearing from small toyshops

(...) Um, isn't this *really* big news? A minimum buy of $1000 would make it reasonable for some parts sellers to buy Lego at wholesale. It's not 75% off clearance, but wholesale would be a good price, especially if it gave a seller the opportunity (...) (23 years ago, 15-Feb-02, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.market.theory)

Re: LEGO disappearing from small toyshops

For some time now I have been seeing all the small toy-shops from my childhood either disappear or cease selling LEGO. I never understood why that happened, but now you have mentioned the minimum order and obligation to use the full product line... (...) (23 years ago, 14-Feb-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: LEGO disappearing from small toyshops

(...) About two years ago I noticed a drastic drop (probably half -- maybe more) in the selection of Lego at one of my favorite indie toy shops. I didn't talk with the staff; I assumed it was because of competition from chains. I had the exact same (...) (23 years ago, 14-Feb-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

  Re: doors and windows pack

(...) Hey guys, why haven't you cross-posted to Local/European Union? I would say it's important enough for the rest of us also. (Yeah, doors and windows!) 260 pieces is most likely the correct figure, because this piece count is also mentioned in (...) (...) That's an excellent idea. I second that ! :) These days, LEGO Direct seams to be our only hope as the "right" LEGO. mc. (23 years ago, 14-Feb-02, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.general)

Re: LEGO disappearing from small toyshops

This certainly isnt the case in the UK I dont have any small toyshops near me, but when I was on holiday in the south of England, I was constantly suprised and pleased to see the range of LEGO the small toyshops were carrying, they certainly had (...) They all stock Rokenbok, Playmobil, Brio, and toys from other major quality manufacturers. Most of these stores used to stock Legos. The (...) (23 years ago, 14-Feb-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

  LEGO disappearing from small toyshops

Hardly any small toyshops seem to carry LEGO anymore. I've been told that toyshop owners don't like to carry it because it's too "mass market" and they specialize in quality toys. Also, I suppose it is hard for toyshop owners to compete with the (...) (23 years ago, 14-Feb-02, to lugnet.general, lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: Bulk Bricks and LEGO auctions

(...) I guess I'm the type of person that looks at a system like this very selfishly. I'm wondering, as I see these issues arise, "are they really understanding what I as a customer am trying to tell them?" That's my biggest concern. (...) (...) (23 years ago, 14-Feb-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: Bulk Bricks and LEGO auctions

<snip> I agree with Allan and Kerry and Ben. The survey technology, while catchy and sexy and pretty to look at and all that, is, in my view, fundamentally flawed. There needs to be a way to compress similar answers together and revote or reweigh (...) (23 years ago, 14-Feb-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: Bulk Bricks and LEGO auctions

<above section all snipped> (...) I am glad someone not only shares my view, but also has good enough examples to give credence to the argument.   Re: Bulk Bricks and LEGO auctions

Re: Bulk Bricks and LEGO auctions

(...) One thing kept coming to mind as I went through, On a number of screens you are asked to pick up to 5 items and rank them. However, the list of items offered is never complete. When you get to the next screen, that shows the overall rankings (...) (23 years ago, 14-Feb-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)
