Re: Who here in Legoland has a Cable modem? —Bram Lambrecht
(...) There are some older computers/operating systems where it's difficult if not impossible to change the resolution. In my school, for example, they had some old Macs with less than 640x480 up until last year. Also, for a page to print on (...) (25 years ago, 18-Sep-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.publish)

Re: Who here in Legoland has a Cable modem? —Christian Holtje
(...) Not quiet right. You forgot that most printers (actually, none the average joe can afford) print at one 'image' dot to a print 'dot' for normal images. Why? Because for a B&W print to print "gray" it uses several dots. I always aim for about (...) (25 years ago, 18-Sep-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.publish)

(...) I didn't forget, and I still disagree. Most printers these days have a resolution of 300dpi or higher. Which is plenty of room to print 100ppi nicely. (25 years ago, 18-Sep-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.publish)

(...) 1024x768? Hmmm.. I must be the only one that uses 1280x1024! ;) But then again, I've got my video card/display properties set up so that I can instantly switch from 1024x768 to 1280x1024.         Re: Who here in Legoland has a Cable modem? —Steve Bliss
(...) I only use 1280x1024 when I can't convince my system it should be in 1600x1200. At home, I'm usually at 1024x768, but I'll switch up to 1280x1024 if I need to check something specific. Steve (25 years ago, 20-Sep-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.publish)

(...) Not a bad card, but what monitor are you using? (...) Yeah, amazing how Win2k does things Win98 won't. I love it on my laptop - rock solid also. (25 years ago, 20-Sep-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.publish)

(...) It's a two-year-old Dell model from a previous PC. The only thing I don't like about it is the stupid interface for adjusting its settings (there's three buttons and one dial to do everything--it's incredibly cumbersome). As soon as good 22" (...)       (...) Ah. I've got a Gateway-branded Mitsubishi 21" "vivitron" at work - really nice. I have an Optiquest v95 at home - also pretty good. I've been giving up some real estate in favor of going easy on my eyes, though - I only run them both at (...) (25 years ago, 20-Sep-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.publish)

Re: Who here in Legoland has a Cable modem? —Steve Bliss
(...) I haven't seen anything, anywhere, at any price, that can be described as a _good 22"_ flat panel display. Seems like anything bigger than 18" is low-res, and is sold for use in large-meeting presentations. Do 22" monsters actually exist? (...)       NEC has a 21" Screen I believe that is like $5000 and is awesome. Saw one at a presentation from NEC showing their wares and they had Quake II running on it. Good test of a screen in my book.       (...) Not me. Text is how to judge a good monitor. I have a 20 in Apple Trinitron display sitting on the shelf behind me.      Apple just announced one at Seybold. $4K (ouch). Supposed to ship end of Oct. Most people who saw it at the show were pretty impressed. The connection is digital not analog.
