Being an adult means, in part, getting a weekly or biweekly paycheck. For about
a year and a half I bought a set every pay day. The number of pieces I had grew
very quickly from a small collection to a medium collection. Keep an eye out
for sales and buy more then, especially anything 30% off or more. BrickFest
every year has had 20%+ sales, so Id buy a bulk of my yearly set purchases
there.
After building for a while, youll get a sense of which pieces you need a lot of
and which you dont. Then, Id recommend going to BrickLink and buying direct.
Having a lot of pieces changes how you view building. I only had a few of the
2x10x2 double slope until I saw Keith Goldman use a bunch in a
MOC (he said they were cheap),
and that inspired me to buy a few hundred and build
this.
