Lego and Disney, a continued future? —Todd Thuma
Deidre posted to Duplo an interesting observation about Lego and Disney I am certain a lot of people missed and failed to pick up on. (URL) got me to thinking and I hadn't slacked off at work nearly enough so I thought I would post these ideas about (...) (22 years ago, 31-May-02, to lugnet.general)

Hum... Hum... Hum... Does this not go against the core idea of 'lego imagination'? Sure all the products described below would be great for both disney and lego fans but does that NOT defeat the purpose of having a cild imagaine and build his own (...)      (...) Not any more than having a town set or a vehicle set defeating the purpose of a child imagining his own version of those. Making sets more affordable is a good idea tho. The Disney sets were pretty expensive. (...) I dunno about that (...) (22 years ago, 1-Jun-02, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego and Disney, a continued future? —Todd Thuma
Ahui makes some good and persuasive points, but I have a few counter arguements. First, the Disney toy monorail SUCKS! It's clear though that Disney is open to the posibility of features of the park being modeled in toy stature. By the way, a little (...) (22 years ago, 5-Jun-02, to lugnet.general)

(...) well, it doesn't suck...it's not as good as it could be.:) (...) About 80-90% true. There are many licenses that are used (plush by Applause comes to mind, for example) for Disney Merchandise that is generally distributed. The park exclusive (...)      (...) Agreed, an over-reaction on my part, but what potential. (...) A former employee and an insider both told me that staff was down considerably and what mostly remains are people that oversee the independent contractors Disney highers to do the (...) If there was more support to the Monorail in terms of little figures and buildings, popularity would have been much higher. (...) Unfortunately, I'm (...)         Re: Lego and Disney, a continued future? —Joe Meno
(...) I was wondering about that myself. (...) This, I would think, would be a pretty easy sell, especially at the Imagination Centers at the Downtown Disneys in California and Florida. Although there might be a question of sizes: An Ultimate Donald (...) (22 years ago, 31-May-02, to lugnet.general)

(...) I like your all of your ideas. Crossing themes and spanning time periods gives free reign to imagination. one small note... in the parks the castles are either Sleeping Beauty [California & Paris] or Cinderella [Florida & Tokyo] I would indeed (...)      (...) How about a set that could make all three of the different castle designs so you could design as you see fit, with the instructions to the 'standard' castles in a booklet? (...)         Re: Lego and Disney, a continued future? —Todd Thuma
My mistake, I thought of all the visuals I had seen with Tinkerbell flying around the castle and I thought of it as her castle. That's what Disney gets for associating Tinkerbell with the image. I'll never really be able to think of it as (...) (22 years ago, 5-Jun-02, to lugnet.general)
