Not any more than having a town set or a vehicle set defeating the purpose
of a child imagining his own version of those.
Making sets more affordable is a good idea tho. The Disney sets were pretty
expensive.

I dunno about that presumption...that would imply that a child would have
knowledge of that time period that is pretty specific. Children will make a
lot more than forts and wagons.

Using this logic, a child would appear to have a mental short out if a Wild
West and Star Wars set were mixed. That doesn't happen too much. A child may
not imagine a TIE, but might imagine another enemy fighter...or create
something completely different with the parts.I'm pretty sure that a child
will imagine something.

I would think that if such a set was made available (which would be a cool
thing, IMO) there would be adequate instructions for the insides and
exterior. It probably would be like Hogwarts Castle in terms of size and detail.
And yes it would be a challenge to build, but not terribly impossible...
As for Tink, well Lego already has a pixie, Millimy, in the Belville sets.
In fact there's a castle in that group of Lego sets, and flying can be
pretty easily modeled using the ol Hand of God or one of the transparent
handle rods in the Spiderman sets.
Playing With and using legos to play out stories...they both have the word
play in them. Younger children like playing out stories and imagine being a
part of this, and that progresses to playing with Lego as a medium to create
an object or setting. I understand the distinction that you are making here,
but I don't understand the relative importance of one over another.

Collectors/speculators scare me too, as I was one of them at one time. Not
anymore tho...too expensive:) Lego sets have not been snapped up by comic
stores and the like because, well, Lego is regarded as a 'common'
easy-to-find toy.

Disney also has a Contemporary Resort and Epcot ball for the monorail.

Just my 2 cents.

| Ahui makes some good and persuasive points, but I have a few counter arguements. First, the Disney toy monorail SUCKS! It's clear though that Disney is open to the posibility of features of the park being modeled in toy stature. By the way, a little (...) (22 years ago, 5-Jun-02, to lugnet.general)
