Weapons in models (was Re: Lego seems to be copying Mega Blocks

(...) True. See also the Patriot Jet, circa 1996: (URL) a modern "fighter jet". It just doesn't have any weapons. Does the 4403 model have visible weapons? if not, it doesn't undercut the argument (although it slices pretty close if you ask me) that (...)   Re: Lego seems to be copying Mega Blocks

(...) The way I've heard it is that they don't produce any weapons developed in the 20th century or later, and that the only reason why we have the Sopwith/Red Baron pair is because LEGO Direct operates under slightly different rules when developing (...) (...) The U.S. Navy has apparently decommissioned all of its battleships: (URL) any other navies have battleships, or is the battleship pretty much obsolete nowadays? Mark Note: Still no generic lugnet.off-topic group to send this to... :-( (22 years ago, 23-May-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Lego seems to be copying Mega Blocks

(...) I think it's more an issue that they don't want to produce toys that look like they can be used to emulate the modern warfare that they see on the news and such. Nobody fights with bi-planes anymore, but fighter jets are pretty much fighter (...) (22 years ago, 23-May-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Lego seems to be copying Mega Blocks

(...) While this is true. 2 years ago at Brickswest the then VP of LEGO Direct stated something to the effect that TLC was not ready to deal/create toys dealing with conflict from WWII and onward. The VP personally liked the models that AFOLs had (...) (22 years ago, 22-May-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  New MOC: Grolsch Brewery Plant

In the netherlands, the Grolsch brewery, built a whole new brewery plant from the ground up, to replace two existing plants elsewhere.   Re: AFOL records is up and running!!

(...) You mean like maybe, oh, perhaps Eric Harshbarger's (URL) 12 foot tall Eiffel Tower>? :) I thought maybe his bridge might qualify for longest structure/bridge, but it's only 15' long, and the current record listing is nearly twice that length.
