  Re: LEGO Quality Observation

(...) Yes.. I recently built 6075 Castle again.. That set had everything interpolated, if you know what I mean :) Jaspert (26 years ago, 28-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Lego(r) Master Maniac designation?

(...) The more I think about this, the more appropriate it seems. At this entry level, the objective is primarily to encourage activity, not to reward achievement, so why not let it be merit badgy? Most of the web sites people create specifically to (...) (26 years ago, 28-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

  Re: LEGO Quality Observation

(...) That is sad. I have always considered the instructions that come with sets to have a dual purpose: 1. Build the set. (duh) 2. Subconsciously teach quality construction methods. The example you give sure screws up purpose #2. -- Terry K -- (26 years ago, 28-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Lego(r) Master Maniac designation?

(...) I think you're on to something here. Honors for service, honors for body of work. Separate things. I dug up the NMRA reference: (URL) describes the Achievement Program, as well as the Master Model Railroader designation. Interesting reading. (...) (26 years ago, 28-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

Re: LUGNET Blurb (was Re: Should RTL be hosted on this server?

Well, we didn't finish this, did we? Here is a revised copy of the blurb incorporating all the changes I could find. Do people think with these revisions, it's good to go? -- start -- To fellow RTL'ers: There is another place to share the joy of (...) (26 years ago, 28-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Lego(r) Master Maniac designation?

(...) Point taken, although I see nothing wrong with limiting it just to CLSotW winners, particularly since (with the 3/4 rule) that wouldn't even be a necessary qualification. But allowing the N page alternative, as if that were in some way (...) (26 years ago, 28-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

Re: Strange set spotted at Target

(...) My neighbor is the national rep for one of the major toy companies for the Target chain. Target "Strongly Urges" its major toy suppliers to repackage sets that they may have in excess inventory or that were not good sellers and then sell them (...)   Re: Lego(r) Master Maniac designation?

(...) Lego (...) After I posted this, I thought of another building criteria that is (IMO) very stringent - as per the above, but using no _more_ than n pieces. (...) want (...) Good question. I don't think it's something that needs 'proactive (...) (26 years ago, 28-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Lego(r) Master Maniac designation?

(...) No, I don't. I agree with you that it should not be merit badge-ish. I tried to address this by a) offering alternatives: N pages OR CLSotW. You can win CLSotW with just one page if it's cool enough. (consider the CNC machine. That site was (...) (26 years ago, 27-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Instructions/catalogs 1968-1973

(...) You can scan and send them both to ftp.kl.net. For scanning suggestions, take a look at (URL) (I personally suggest scanning them at 150 dpi, with magazine level descreening and auto contrast enabled if your scanner supports it.) I assume you (...) (26 years ago, 27-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

  LEGO Quality Observation

Odd thing I noticed while building #6093, Flying Ninja Fortress [1]. At one point, the instructions have you build a corner which is 3x3, and three bricks high. From above, it looks something like: +-----+ |O O O| +-+---+ |O| |O| +-+ On each level, (...) (26 years ago, 27-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

  1999 LEGO TECHNIC Catalog 4112685/4112686/4112687-AM

Andrew Cooperman <cooperman@email.msn.com> has kindly made scans of the new 12-page 1999 LEGO TECHNIC Catalog (4112685/4112686/4112687-AM). Look for the sections entitled: 1999 LEGO TECHNIC Catalog 75 DPI (4112685/4112686/4112687-AM) and 1999 LEGO (...) (26 years ago, 27-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Lego(r) Master Maniac designation?

(...) YES! This in fact is what the NMRA Master Modeler has to do... you have to make models of locomotives, of trackside structures, of passenger, and of freights, as well as demonstrate ability to do scenery (Or at least, several of these... I (...) (26 years ago, 27-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

  Instructions/catalogs 1968-1973

I just located my old childhood legos in my parent's attic. Still included were the following instructions and catalogs. Most of my sets were Dutch origin. 119/156 - 4.5V Train Signal 131 - Train Coach 150/151/154/155 - Idea book for 4.5V track (...) (26 years ago, 27-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Lego(r) Master Maniac designation?

(...) A good idea, but it seems somewhat too merit badge-ish. I can see certain people doing things they otherwise never would have done, and will never do again, just to check off one more item on your list. Do you really want to encourage people (...)   Fallin in love with older sets

Recently, thanks to Gunther L and Paul Wolters (sorry if I misspelled your names guys), I was able to put two sets together from scratch: 1) The Black Seas Barracuda 2) The Blacktron Message Intercept Base Now, as a huge castle fan, and having been (...)   Re: 5956 airship + other 1999 stuff in the UK

Stickers are a big foul in my Lego collection. I give them to my 5yr old for his Legos. Using them kinda ruins pieces for further ideas b/c they may not match the theme you are trying to create. I don't know... This is just my feelings on stickers. (...) (26 years ago, 27-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)
