I totally agree that the community, which has not come across this situation,
needs to be alerted and a consensus taken, ideas heard. I did not think of
this when I started, and thought that I had covered my bases.
|
Well, in time, figure out a (hopefully) fair way of utilizing this new way of
playing. As the game is new and members still small, we cant be able to have
had the rules all done and complete when we first launched. Our rules are made
to be added to, amended, and changed in any way the population dictates.

I did not register the probes because they have no crew, and are totally
expenable (I seriuosly hope that my ships with crews will not be expendable).
If a SM does not wish these probes to enter their sector, for whatever
reason, then accidents do happen as the old saying goes. These probes were
meant to be story impetus, motivators, and not to be some sort of spy thingy.
Again, reason why not to register them. There is full detailed info about
these probes for the benefit of other SMs on my web site.
|
I agree, mostly.
|
I noticed that one SM requested system failures, I have granted that wish.
The A.I. of the probes has been severly limited to the point that they are
almost a hazard to themselves. The probes are also more of space Hubble multi
telescope type of things, not meant for espionage work. However, even that
might reveal some SMs secrets. Another thing, these probes are not equipped
to transpond their locations, so if that causes concern against a SMs sector
rules, then accidents do happen as the old saying goes.
|
Well, when I said that probes are prone to failure, I didnt mean make the AI
crap ;) . Its just probes do not have the human intuition to survive. A probe
might just be photographing, for instance, a planet while it orbits around, then
drift into an oncoming ship or asteroid.
|
I wish to be a member of the community, a member who plays by the rules. I
thought I was being innovative, perhaps I was being ahead of myself. Again,
these were mostly for story impetus, as you know that one of the probes is
heading for an unmanned sector. On my web site, Chapter 1 reveals the whole
reason about that, (story starter). That probe will serve its purpose and
fade away.

Youre not breaking any rules. Many players have amended rules before in the
past because they were not covered. The community does not mind when a new
player comes up with a new idea. New ideas help our community grow stronger by
opening up possibilities that have never occured before. Too bad theres no
link to your site.
|
Please feel free to post these re-assurances to the other members of the game
on the Lugnet message board. I am not here to start trouble, just to have
fun.

Youre not causing trouble at all. Youre adding to our ideas of how to play
and changing the rules to allow your way of playing in. Not every player will
have the same ships and players always have new ideas.
As stated before, when we first started, the rules were not enough to cover
everything anyone could think of, so they became amendable. If we were devoted
24/7 to creating rules to cover everything, wed still be talking and not be
playing.
Welcome to the game and the community, Avery.
