According to (URL) Joe Meno's post>, last year's BrickFest brought in $13000 in profit for himself, as well as $3000 for Christina Hitchcock for use of the BrickFest name. Can the organizers of BrickFest PDX 2007 tell us who (if anyone) will be (...) (17 years ago, 13-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickfest, FTX) !!

(...) Tommy: Here, here! I agree. Everyone else: Here's where I boldly go where I probably shouldn't. Conventions cost money. There is money to pay for licensing fees, building usage, etc. If there is a profit, it (usually) does not go into the (...) (17 years ago, 15-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickfest, FTX)

Not sure I agree there either - speaking as an organiser of Brickvention, all the organisers, helpers, presenters, etc paid registration, it meant the difference between a small loss and a large loss. In the case of a small convention like BV then there simply aren't the funds to let all the volunteers in for free. In that case you have to set the (...) Well, I'd rather see them all pay the fee beforehand, then be compensated (fee returned, nice lunch, whatever) after there's an indication how good the finances are (which is usually fairly apparent by the end of the public expo).
