Re: What words describe the Lego elements?

(...) From the discussion so far, I can tell that some of us may be confusing a classification system with being able to identify a Lego element. In the perfect database, the inquiry about a piece would not need to know *anything* about how the data (...) (25 years ago, 9-Feb-00, to lugnet.db.brictionary)

  Re: Online LEGO Inventory Database

(...) 'The database' should allow multiple descriptions per piece. And should have the major descriptions pre-loaded. The core element table should have an abstract key value, and a pointer to a graphic image for each part. A second table, call it (...)   Re: does anyone have...

(...) I've got the box scanned for #7851: (URL) hesitant to open the box, since I'm waiting to see if anyone wants to buy/ trade for it. It sounds like the pieces are polybaged inside, though, so there's probably some kind of insert (maybe just a (...) (25 years ago, 7-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.general, lugnet.db.scans)

Re: The Lepanadat Project (update 1)

(...) Of course you can use the database I'm working on now for a set inventory. Creating a set inventory was also one of my goals when I started with the Lepanadat project, but it takes a lot of time, so it would probably take many, many years (...)   Re: Online LEGO Inventory Database

(...) One problem we have at the moment is that the various sources of parts lists (LDraw, Tim Vattima's set inventories, Auczilla, Technica, etc) all contain different subsets of the full parts list and use different descriptions. We need to (...) (25 years ago, 7-Feb-00, to lugnet.db.brictionary, lugnet.db.inv)

I'm going to begin by designing the database to hold the data, and deciding on the best method to catalog the parts, or the best existing database to use for the parts. Any suggestions (...)   Re: What words describe the Lego elements?

(...) Nope, "Linnaeus" is spelled correctly. However if the "A" above refers to his first name that's wrong, his first name is Carolus. If not, nevermind. -Chris (25 years ago, 5-Feb-00, to lugnet.db.brictionary)

Re: What words describe the Lego elements?

(...) Respectfully disagree. Animals are all related (1), and the nomenclature, driven by the Linnaeus classification system, reflects that relationship. Lego elements, except in limited cases, are not related to each other by derivation or (...) (25 years ago, 4-Feb-00, to lugnet.db.brictionary)

Re: What words describe the Lego elements?

After thinking about this a lot, I think we need a nomenclature that is similar to the binomial nomenclature that they use for animals. These could be coupled to a standard name, such as lupus wilus, aka Wiley Coyote. The technical name would allow (...) (25 years ago, 4-Feb-00, to lugnet.db.brictionary)

Re: The Lepanadat Project (update 1)

I will be creating a set inventory database, with a web-based searchable interface, and will be, of course, needing some way to refer to each of the parts int he inventory. I would like to put your database online also, in a searchable format, and (...) (25 years ago, 4-Feb-00, to lugnet.db.brictionary, lugnet.db.inv)

Re: What words describe the Lego elements?

This would allow people to find a picture of the piece and the various names for the piece. I had a few (...) (25 years ago, 4-Feb-00, to lugnet.db.brictionary)

Re: The Lepanadat Project (update 1)

It has been a while since I updated the page for the last time. Because I found a new job and had to move, I lately had not very much time over.   Online LEGO Inventory Database

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in an online LEGO parts & Inventory database... or if there is already one out there. If there's enough interest I would be willing to write a web-based database for it. I thought it would also be nice (...) (25 years ago, 3-Feb-00, to lugnet.db.inv)

What words describe the Lego elements?

One of the tasks of the bricktionary is to allow the identification of an in-hand Lego element. The user would supply various descriptor words based on what he sees of the object in front of him.
