Lester, You can blame Eric Strand for it not being ready yet! :-)
Seriously, Eric (who is helping me) has found a whole new line of Lego items,
namely USA/Canada Samsonite department store catalog sets. These were sold in
Sears, Penney's and Eaton's (Canada) department store mail order catalogs. And
most of these sets were never sold in toy stores (the Lego line of sets).
Probably the most amazing discovery that Eric has found is set #842, a
previously unknown Town Plan set from 1968-69. Previously there were only 3
Town Plan sets #810 (continental Europe), #810 (Britain) and #725 (USA/Canada).
Well now there is this 4th one, the #842.
Most of these catalog only Lego sets were delivered in a plain brown cardboard
box. No fancy colored boxes, like the Lego sets sold in toy stores.
Another item that has slowed me down was originally I was going to start with
1957 as beginning of the CD. But I received a lot of information from two very
knowledgeable collectors (Kurt Richter of Germany and Manuel Cueto of Columbia)
so that I went back and rewrote the origins of Lego back to 1949, the beginning.
I hope to have EVERY SINGLE early Lego part identified and added to all the
databases for Lugnet, Peeron, LDRAW, and Bricklink (and others).
I hope to finish the text by Dec. 1. But then comes the addition of pictures.
There will be catalog scans from 1953, 1955, 1956-65, and also two Dealer
catalogs from USA Samsonite, 1967 and 1970. And of course a lot of mail order
catalog pictures of Lego sets, previously unknown.
