  Re: Bull's Attack (6096)

(...) I recently bought King Leo's Castle <set:6091>, and it's actually not bad. (I liked it enough that I went out and bought another one yesterday!) It includes a decent set of figs and an acceptable number of pieces (524), which seems a bit lower (...) (25 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Caer Gwynnyd Construction Pics!

(...) Extremely cool! I can't wait to see it finished! I noticed a large platform over water w/ a bridge leading to it in some pics; is that some sort of dragon landing platform? I've had an idea to do something like that for years! -Chris (25 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.castle)

  The cost of minifigs

Boy, minifigs sure are expensive! Not to purchase, but to maintain! I've started planning of the barracks for my fortress, and it appears that the magic number is 6x12 "studs" of floor space for every two minifigs (or 72 square studs). Why is that (...) (25 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Caer Gwynnyd Construction Pics!

(...) Thanks! That platform is actually part of the entrance. The drawbridge leads to it, and another bridge leads off it at right angles, connecting with the shore. :) I also have plans to remove part of the rear wall in order to put in a river (...) (25 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.castle)

(...) dragon (...) Ahh, I see. That river gate sounds cool, too. I guess when I eventually finish a decent castle w/ a dragon landing, I'll have to post it. -Chris (25 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: The cost of minifigs

(...) <snip> (...) Do it the old-fashioned way - have everybody bed down in the Great Hall. 8) Only the nobles and important people get "quarters". You might want to lay in a supply of dogs to keep the 'figs warm though. If you insist on beds, make (...) (25 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: The cost of minifigs

By putting them in triple layer bunks, I figure I can fit 6 of them in a 8x6x8 area... which means for roughly 100, all you need is a 32x24x8 stud room. As for gear, all their armor and weapons are property of the kingdom, they stay in the armory (...) (25 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: The cost of minifigs

(...) Also, since your minifigs will probably be on guard duty in shifts, you can limit the number of beds to equal the number of soldiers who are off duty. :) The soldiers on duty certainly won't be able to use the beds... You could even make it a (...) (25 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: The cost of minifigs

(...) even (...) Aye, the U.S. Navy does this with their ships to conserve space. Everyone shares bunks, since the bunk : sailor ratio is something like 2:3. If everyone gets sick, I guess those on shift get sick at their post. :-, Cheers, - jsproat (25 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: The cost of minifigs

(...) <snip breakdown of cost> :) Yay! It's my specialty(1)! Actually, it depends on who the minifigs are, and how historically accurate you're trying to be. The amount of room you're allowing above sounds about right for knights or minor nobility. (...) (25 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: The cost of minifigs

(...) :) (...) Actually, when we were coming here, we went to the Fortress of Louisburg, in Cape Breaton (Nova Scotia). The reinactors said that from the manning numbers, the soldiers slept 4 to a bunk, and the bunks were about the size of a double (...) (25 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: New dragon breeds

(...) I'll probably stick them in my Wild West town..."Valley of Gwangi," anyone? (25 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.adventurers)

  Re: Caer Gwynnyd Construction Pics!

(...) Extremely cool! I like the different levels in the courtyard and the way part of the castle sits on the rocky outcropping. Great Job! Wilson (25 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Caer Gwynnyd Construction Pics!

(...) Extremely Cool *also* (25 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Caer Gwynnyd Construction Pics!

Great stuff, Jeff! I extremely like the throne room, complete with red rug... ;-) I also like the semi-symmetry of the keep (ie two pairs of towers, each pair is a bit different) - it is consistent but not at all boring or repetitive. And the way it (...) (25 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: New dragon breeds

The pteradactyls (sp...=)) Could carry minifigs under them, sort of like a hangglider, i was thinking. How cool would it be to see a flight dark knights swoop down, each carried by a pteradactyl? I havent seen a good picture of them lately, but im (...) (25 years ago, 21-Apr-00, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.adventurers)

  Re: New dragon breeds

(...) I don't know... but if they are not too thick, they probably will have a brick- bottom molded on the bottom... maybe... That would be very cool, yes... I can picture my renedition of the witch's windship, adapted to a pteradactyl (sp?)... <set (...) (25 years ago, 21-Apr-00, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.adventurers)

  Re: The cost of minifigs

100$ is dirt-cheap for a LEGO building! I've calculated that many of my buildings cost $300-$600! (URL) seen some other folks' buildings that are much bigger (and more expensive). If you want to save money, then buy up sets at 50% discount. You can (...) (25 years ago, 21-Apr-00, to lugnet.castle)
