I just noticed the MB Dragon tins today, and I think they were the most
eye-catching sets in the Lego/MegaBlok aisles. They REALLY stand out. Had to
pick one up to check it out.
The feel is not as good as a lego minifig, and the hands don't move, but I
think/fear Ritvik will develop a following with this theme. The legs are better
than I remember, the weapons are over-the-top for my tastes but the detail and
variety was a plus, and I love the shields. Some of the architectural elements
also looked better than normal arch/slope constructs. It was a very low
piece/price ratio for a MegaBlok set, but I think they'll get away with it.
I suspect Fantasy wargamers will love Dragons, and I will not be surprised to
see Dragons as bad guys against Lego castle MOC. It's not lego, but a lot of
kids won't care about that.
I don't want Lego to imitate MB, but soemthing new very quickly might be a good
idea. Castle parts kits, with sportier shields, helmets, weapons? These Dragons
will be popular.
JMO.
