Well, I personally use a digital camera - it's a Sony Mavica with manual
focus, which is absolutely perfect for lego pictures. I tend to take them a
few times before they come out exactly right... I've got shaky hands so I
will often try to place the camera on a hard surface. It's vital to keep
still while shooting! I've seen a lot of people (Mark Sandlin for example)
use tripods (little stands) to steady the camera and to get it juuuust right.
I've also seen some pretty good shots taken with analog cameras - the most
obvious example right now is Chris's (1) Wizard Tower MOC. The pictures
there were sharp, clean, well-focused, everything you could ask for in a
pic. He mentioned that he was toying around with exposure time and other
stuff - he didn't tell me exactly what he did, but maybe he can explain it.
It might even be worth a try to "waste" a roll of film experimenting; you
take the same shot with different exposure lengths, etc. and write down
exactly what you did with every picture. When they come out, you can compare
which settings turned out best and use those from now on!
(If you do that, remember to try all the settings both on close-up pictures
and far-away ones... the settings will likely change.)

(1) I've discovered that this *is* grammatically correct! My sis Inbal just
taught me that the possessive form of a one-syllable word ending with "s" is
written "XXXs's", not "XXXs'"!

| (...) Tripods are definitely a real help. Another thing which can be useful is a slave flash which will let you illuminate a subject from the side (however, you need to be ware of cameras which preflash which makes a slave useless). I almost (...) (23 years ago, 19-Dec-01, to lugnet.publish)

| (...) Hey Shiri! Tahnx for the feedback. yeah, i know my pic qualty is poor. I'm currently using a PC camera to take pics, so the quality is alsways gonna be poor. I even used Kai's photosoap to try and clean em up, but that's how they turned out. (...) (23 years ago, 16-Dec-01, to lugnet.castle)
