  Batch .pov file creation?

Can anyone tell me how to create a series of .pov files all with a slightly different name (i.e. file01.pov, file02.pov, etc.) that has slightly different camera coordinates for each file? Basically I am trying to create a series of rendered images (...) (23 years ago, 28-Sep-01, to lugnet.cad.ray)

(...) It might be easier to move the camera according to the clock variable, and go with the filenames POV gives you (e.g. scene001.tga, scene002.tga, etc.) If that doesn't work for you, I might be able to whip up a quickie Perl script that will (...) (23 years ago, 28-Sep-01, to lugnet.cad.ray)

(...) Ah yes. Forgot about that. Any ideas or tips on how to use it or how to find info about it? Jake (23 years ago, 28-Sep-01, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: Batch .pov file creation?

(...) Consult the Help of Povray, entry "animation". I'm working on the opposite subject: the camera is fixed, but the model is moving. Looks quite pretty when minifigures are marching to the sound of "stars and stripes for ever". Unfortunately the (...) (23 years ago, 29-Sep-01, to lugnet.cad.ray)

(...) I would put it all in one file and use POV-Ray's animation facility to achieve the various camera positions. You can do something like this: camera { [...] location <0, -50, -100> look_at <0, -50, 0> rotate <0, 30*clock, 0> } This will cause (...) (23 years ago, 29-Sep-01, to lugnet.cad.ray)

(...) This worked like a champ! Thanks! One question though, when my rectangular object rotates, it tends get cut off on some frames. The center of the object is not rotating around the center point of the rendering window. Instead the rotation (...) (23 years ago, 29-Sep-01, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: Batch .pov file creation?

(...) If the object you want to rotate around is not in the centre, you may want to try to centre it. If you're using output from L3P, you should look for the last "object" definition. It would typically look like this: object { model #if (version (...) (23 years ago, 29-Sep-01, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: Batch .pov file creation?

I have found some utilities on the web that allow you to save your camera positions by "flying" around, etc., but I haven't really found this useful for LDraw (YET). Also, I might make a post to the FST newsgroup to see if their flight simulator can (...) (23 years ago, 30-Sep-01, to lugnet.cad.ray)

LDA2001 and batch .pov file creation

I had almost done writing a long reply on this thread when a very aggressive spyware/adware triggered a large number of popup-ads that eventually crashed my system. I think it was one of Kazaa's nasty companion programs. No more Kazaa for me! This (...) (23 years ago, 30-Sep-01, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Thanks for your quick response, Lars. (...) That would be perfectly ok for me. The lines I outlined could maybe be of more generic use in other applications, but that's not important. At least not for me, now. As I understand it, L3P is your program (...) (23 years ago, 30-Sep-01, to lugnet.cad.ray)
