  Re: Short Animations

Trond Hasse Lie, First of all your animations are sweet! Does this mean you have finished your DAT import function for AutoCAD? If so I and I'm sure others would like to know more. To say that it would be difficult to make these animations with pov (...) (22 years ago, 27-Apr-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Short Animations

Hi. Just wanted to show a couple of anims. The first one is Jeremy H. Sproats' A66 (Spider Mecha) doing a little walk. ftp://ftp.lie.hn.org/a66.avi (410 KB) Converted to DXF, imported into 3ds max 4, completely set up with IK, and rendered with (...) (22 years ago, 26-Apr-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Minfig Mouth Animation

I am currently use Bryce to render all of my Lego models. I am currently working on a few ideas for some short animations. The following link ( (URL) ) is to a file that is a test animation for a speaking minifig head. I know it stills needs some (...) (22 years ago, 20-Apr-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: Some pov-ray questions

(...) You just need to find out how to compose a table AKA an array in the POV-Ray language, then you need to find out how to include a file indexed in the table. This is probably covered in the manual. To compose an array with 1500 different file (...) (22 years ago, 18-Apr-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: Some pov-ray questions

Thanks, Do you have an example, url?, of this?. Because it's way better then the backup plan I was having, Namely: Tempary replacing the main ini file of povray where it holds the menu driven queue of pov files. Still better than restarting, focus (...) (22 years ago, 18-Apr-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: Some pov-ray questions

(...) On second thoughts, you can do this in POV-Ray, without the use of a .BAT file. What you need to do is simply to make a dummy .POV file in which you put an indexed table of your 1500 .POV files. Then you put som code into this dummy file which (...)   Re: Some pov-ray questions

(...) If you have 1500 individual, different .POV files, I don't think you can have them all rendered with one execution of POV-Ray. If these are 1500 frames of a single POV-Ray animation, however, you can use the POV-Ray animation options to render (...) (22 years ago, 17-Apr-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Some pov-ray questions

Being fairly new to pov-ray I am having problems using the render engine via the command line I can't seem to change the height and width via a custom povray.ini file in the current directory, it will take the different output directory but it still (...)   Re: LGEO Problem

(...) john, Have you tried removing the word clear from the statemnet // 1x1 round with fin lg_4588_clear to lg_4588 See what happens when you do that? I think you still get the clear in POV... I've seen this error before and I just remove the (...) (22 years ago, 31-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  LGEO Problem

(URL) dosn't seem to render clear LGEO parts. Can somebody help? John Kruer (22 years ago, 31-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: POV rendering file format

(...) Hey, thanks for that tip! My BMP files don't live long anyway, I convert them to PNG right away, but it saves on hard disk thrashing. (...) (22 years ago, 30-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  POV rendering file format

Hi All, Just thought I'd send this out. I'm sure most of you know this but for those who don't it is a huge disk space and upload/download time saver. By adding "+FN" to the POV or MegaPOV command line or click on the big "INI" button in the Windows (...) (22 years ago, 29-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: memory for LGEO

(...) (URL) is an example of a scene that used LGEo parts and has other stuff in it. You can make it more complex by adding 'better' terrain using FORESETR or TERRAGEN to it. This one took 4 minutes to render. POV has has problem when it must figure (...) (22 years ago, 29-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: memory for LGEO

(...) I would like to see a scene that matched the complexity of the LGEO library pieces. (22 years ago, 29-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: memory for LGEO

(...) I would like to point out a difference in thinking here. 64MB may be fast and good enough for rendering any complex/big model ALONE. That being just the model with a simple grey floor or the building instructions. Since I usely render my (...) (22 years ago, 29-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: memory for LGEO

(...) I used to attempt Lgeo mania on my 32Meg Win95 machine, but could only manage a few dozen pieces before grinding the system into submission. (Ummm, not that the system submitted to actually rendering the picture, rather that it finally (...) (22 years ago, 28-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: memory for LGEO

(...) My computer has Win98se, 64Mb memory and I never encountered problems with LGEO parts. Probably 32Mb is sufficient for models below 1000 parts. I estimate one could render all official lego models using only 32Mb. Damien (22 years ago, 28-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: memory for LGEO

(...) There isn't one. In practice, the more avaliabel memory that POV-Ray can use the less time it takes for POV to render. The speed of the CPU *doesn't* matter as much as the memory. I've tested POV on a dual-P3-650Mhz (256MB RAM) machine and a) (...) (22 years ago, 28-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  memory for LGEO

What is the minimum memory a computer needs to render a POV-file with LGEO-parts? 128Mb? 256? more? I know it depends on the size of the file, but is there a sort of guide for it? I need to know for the REND101 manual. Jeroen (22 years ago, 28-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)
