Hi Robert.
I'm sorry, but in the new version there are a lot of strange things regarding
the moving of parts and regarding the view of parts which definately haven't
been in  previous versions .
I now tested a lot of things. Here is what I did and remarked:

I start with a new file, all options as default, no fixed direction keys.
I insert a new piece, i.e. an asymmetrical piece like a wedge 4 x 4 (4858)
I start with "normal" movings:

Right arrows moves the piece in the upper right corner
Left arrow moves the piece in the bottom left corner
Up arrow moves the piece in the upper left corner
Down arrow moves the piece in the bottem right corner
Theese four movings are the same like in the old version.

I now chose "fixed direction keys" (what I never did in previous versions) and
the functions of the arrow keys change:
Right arrow moves the piece in the upper left corner
Left arrow moves the piece in the bottom right corner
Up arrow moves the piece in the bottom left corner
Down arrow moves the piece in upper right corner

(I don't see the sence in this function change, especially when I have just one
single piece.)

I switch back to no fixed direction keys and rotate the piece 90° clockwisely by
using the shift +pagedown buttons.
The function of the arrows keys also rotate 90°. That means:
Right arrow moves the piece in the bottom right corner
Left arrow moves the piece in the upper left corner
Up arrow moves the piece in the upper right corner
Down arrow moves the piece in the bottom left corner

I rotate the piece another 90° clockwisely and the function of the arrow keys
rotate also another 90°.

This function changing of the arrow keys when rotating a piece is confusing, it
hasn't been in previous versions.

AND: When the fixed direction keys option is used and the piece is rotated 90°
the arrow keys functions are ALSO rotated. So this option doesn't has any
different function when a piece is rotated.

It's normal that many pieces have many directions in a building and it would be
quite silly that the arrow keys _should_ have different functions depending on
the direction a certain selected piece has. I would call this a heavy bug. I
can't believe that this should has been the will of the programmer(s).

Another bug which appears in the new version is that the left/right and
front/back camera positions are switched. If you want to look at a building from
the back side you'll see it from the front side and so on.

I could be that those positions are right and that just the Main sight has
changed and has a bug:
When I open a file which I created with the old version, and chose
Cameras->Reset in the right mouse button menu, my building was shown other way
round than I builded it.

I hope the programmer(s) will read this post and will give a statement for the
changed functions/bugs.

I love LeoCAD but it's very difficult and annoying to use the new version.
Maybe there are new options that I didn't found yet. But then I would wonder why
the default settings don't cause the same behaviour than previous versions.

Best regards
Ronald

(...) Try checking the "Don't allow relative snap" option in the preferences dialog, it should make things work like in the previous version. I tried to match the mouse and keyboard movement but maybe it's not very intuitive to have the directions (...) (18 years ago, 12-Jun-06, to lugnet.cad.leocad)
