I'm the guilty party who posted such notes on the tracker. :) I still pass a
part with these errors. Some of my earler parts have these too.

And I want to say "Thank You!" to Paul for doing this -- Lars Hassing has
performed a similar service in the past, emailing the L3P messages to part
authors.

We[1] are in the process of incorporating L3P into the part submission
function.  I expect that the submit program will have to sort through the
L3P messages, as only some of the messages would warrant turning down a
submission.

I also make notes on studs not being oriented correctly, not something I
"hold" parts over, unless they are inverted or mis-used. This really only
shows up on very small rendered models with full stud detail, so it's pretty
much a non-issue. I have the logo on my studs so I can check them easily.

Are your studs oriented the same way as the studs generated by L3P->POV-Ray?

Yes, I believe they are. I haven't rechecked lately to see if anything has
changed. If I get a chance in the next few days I will recheck it.

As it is now, the warnings about stud orientation might be
counter-productive, since most authors (a) wouldn't know what you mean and
(b) wouldn't have the information needed to correct the situation.

I understand and agree. I will cease making any comments on them.

There's also the fact that TLC occasionally turns the stud-logo the wrong
direction, but that's an entirely different discussion...

really? ok.

on the ldraw.org server; Dan Boger, if I manage to drag him into it; and me,
umm, chief instigator.
