How to get L3P coordinates

Hi,

I'm trying to use LDraw a bit more and I've got to the point where I don't mind
sending submissions to the MOTM contest (Willy sounds like he wants some).

However, the rules allow for additional camera locations, in L3P coordinates
format.

Now, how can I easily get that kind of coordinates on a Mac? I don't see
anything to do that in BrickSmith; and LDview is currently crashing on me
(hopefully not for long; I really enjoyed it while it worked).

I've tried the L3P Launcher too, but all it does is generate POV files according
to what I'd specify myself... Which could work by trial and error (except POV
doesn't seem to work much either), expect I'm, well, lazy.

What I'd like is something where I can load a model, turn it around somehow,
zoom in, out, in short, act as I control the camera, and then it'd tell me the
L3P camera coordinates I'm currently viewing the model from.

Am I correct in thinking LDview does that? It's a functionality I didn't get
time to check. Is there any other way?

Thanks,

Jean-Marc

(...) Yep, LDView can do this for you. After you open a model and position the view as you would like, select "Show POV-Ray Camera Info" from the "Tools" menu. A dialog containing coordinates you can copy will appear. Can you describe more about how (...) (17 years ago, 21-Jun-07, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac)

(...) I'd try and get LDview working because it should be able to do this. But if for some reason you can't get it to work, you could try ldglite as a last resort. (URL) I think you have to launch it from the command line, so only go there if you're (...) (17 years ago, 21-Jun-07, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac)

(...) I just wanna make clear that the L3P coordinates have to be "L3P style global coordinates". For example <25,45,0>,<-25,225,0>. Please do not send me raw LDView outputs for PoyRay like: camera { #declare ASPECT = 4/3; location < (...) (17 years ago, 24-Jun-07, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac)
