  Re: Interpolation Worksheet

I think so. You know what else would be great from one of you programer types: a little program to calculate the intersections of cylinders with spheres or other cylinders. Maybe something for LDScript, which I still haven't found time to learn. (...) (26 years ago, 1-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: LDAO suggestions

(...) Steve, First I've got to say Thanks for this great program. We all appreciate your work greatly! Having said that, I've got a nit to pick also about LDAO Modeler. I'm running v 2.02, and when I have the Modeler running, I can't get the Render (...) (26 years ago, 1-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: LDAO suggestions

(...) I was thinking more along the lines of using two areas each with all sixteen boxes, each in a different color. More visual. :-, Is there any way VB5 can put colored boxes into a drop-down list? Cheers, - jsproat (26 years ago, 1-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: LDAO suggestions

(...) I really want to do *something* with the color chart. This is definitely an idea. Having to type color numbers is unfriendly, especially in the Modeller. Maybe instead of (or in addition to) the type-in box, there could be the two drop-downs, (...) (26 years ago, 1-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: How big is your VEC dir?

(...) Yes, doing this automatically is one of the items on the request list for LDAO. (...) I've done this. It is *much* slower. 3x or worse. I'm thinking it was much worse, but I don't remember now. Steve (26 years ago, 1-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Interpolation Worksheet

I've got an Excel file I use to do simple math operations, mostly to interpolate and find line intersections. Would anyone be interested in this? Steve (26 years ago, 1-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  LDAO suggestions

Steve, I have a couple of thoughts for LDAO: 1) How about an extension to the color chart which allows the user to pick two arbitrary colors and dither them? It could have a dialog box with two 16-color choosers in it, and that also displays the (...) (26 years ago, 1-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Terry K wrote: <something about running out of "temporary" 3-digit part numbers> How about using 4-digits with an "X" or something similar in front? (26 years ago, 1-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

How big is your VEC dir?

...Mine is 79 Mb in size after 9902 parts update. For speed, I don't want to go GIF or JPEG, and I'm not too crazy about reducing the rendering size for the VEC. Question #1: Will Image Magick convert 24-bit BMPs to 8-bit? Question #2: Has anyone (...) (26 years ago, 1-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: New guidelines on parts and numbers (long)

(...) Is it time to start thinking of a separate FAQ for part authors? (...) I would say this could be handled by putting the different-colored lines in different files (probably in parts\s). Then the actual part files can reference the sub-files (...) (26 years ago, 1-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: New guidelines on parts and numbers (long)

(...) That will be the way new parts are handled. Will we go back and redo (or undo) existing parts? I don't know. It's not out of the question. Steve (26 years ago, 1-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: New guidelines on parts and numbers (long)

(...) I think the current plans are to change the original lines to dark grey, and put a new silver surface on the part, 0.001 larger. ;) Steve (26 years ago, 1-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: New guidelines on parts and numbers (long)

Steve and Terry described the new guidelines on parts and numbers. Nice piece of work. I support it. Terry mentioned a suggestion of mine: (...) Because it (in a sense) is two different kinds of data. And because 1000 files already is quite a lot (...) (26 years ago, 1-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: New guidelines on parts and numbers (long)

(...) So the 6H antenna is really clear underneath? I think the divers knives are white - anybody got a sprue they didn't throw out? What about the coins? I'd like to add my salutations the great work that has gone on in the backgound - well done. (...) (26 years ago, 1-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

RE: New guidelines on parts and numbers (long)

Congratulations to part number concept designers! I believe that this old/new concept will resolve the part numbering problems discussed recently in long threads. The concept is very clear and it would be good that the rules could be summarized in (...) (26 years ago, 1-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  3 x 3 x 2 cone

i just noticed this part on the parts tracker... what is it/where is it used? (26 years ago, 1-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: New guidelines on parts and numbers (long)

(...) Would you also color the inside of the brick dark grey and the outside silver? :) What about the 6H antennas? Would you include the little scratched off places where you can see that the piece is actually transparent? :) Seriously, though, I (...) (26 years ago, 1-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: New guidelines on parts and numbers (long)

Good work guys! I think you've come up with an excellent solution, like Ulysses navigating the waters between Scylla and Charbydis. I look forward to seeing its implementation, and am thankful I'm not the one doing it :-) -John Van (26 years ago, 1-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: LDLite Anomaly

(...) D'Oh! I noticed that two weeks ago and forgot to mention it. Yes, it is messed up. I had a batch file set up to do this, and quickly found that it had destroyed a bunch of minifigs I had made. :-/ So I set up a separate directory using the (...) (26 years ago, 1-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: New guidelines on parts and numbers (long)

(...) Good one. :-) <snipped the rest of the relevant text> Steve's outline appears accurate to me. I _really_ , *REALLY* hope everyone will think this through and see the benefits it brings. And not argue against it from a strictly knee-jerk (...) (26 years ago, 1-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)
