  Parts from 8448 not LDrawn

[X-posted to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.technic, follow-up set to lugnet.cad.dev] While building the way-cool #8448 SSS Super Car Mk II, I compiled a list of parts which have not been modeled in LDraw yet. I've included it below. I had two reactions to (...) (24 years ago, 20-Jan-00, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.technic)

Re: Parts from 8448 not LDrawn

Urgh. Just hit some key which seemed to reset the body of this reply to the default text. Blech. In lugnet.cad.dev, Jonathan Wilson writes: [before that, Steve wrote:] (...) It's a piece which fits between the driving ring and the freespinning 16(?) (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jan-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Parts from 8448 not LDrawn

(...) I don't understand what you mean by "Znap Axle". Du you mean the rubber like flexible axle-shaped "hoses" with 8 LDU diameter connector pins at each end? Are these really Znap originated? (Of course, living in Norway, I don't know the Znap (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jan-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Parts from 8448 not LDrawn

(...) The small shock absorber in 8448 is different from the one we already have in LDraw, as the spring has fewer coil windings. Fredrik (24 years ago, 21-Jan-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Parts from 8448 not LDrawn

(...) Which piece is this? (...) Is this similar to the other gear rack with holes pieces? (...) Is this the shock that has been "on hold" for about 6 months? (...) I take it this is the one that keeps breaking (...) What are these? Some missing (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jan-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Parts from 8448 not LDrawn

(...) Is this the same as the one in the 8880? If so then I have a mock-up of it if anyone wants it. It uses a technic engine piston to simulate the towball socket and liftarms for the sides. (...) Thanks for the info (...) -- Jonathan Wilson (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jan-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Parts from 8448 not LDrawn

(...) I believe that it is the large shock absorber that is in progress. -- Jonathan Wilson wilsonj@xoommail.com (URL) (24 years ago, 22-Jan-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Parts from 8448 not LDrawn

(...) Yup. I double-checked the two parts. Fredrick is correct, the new spring has fewer windings. And it is stiffer than the old spring. Other than the new spring, the pieces of the parts seem to be identical. Steve (24 years ago, 24-Jan-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

8448 Flexible Axles (was Re: Parts from 8448 not LDrawn)

[FUT lugnet.cad.dev] Can anyone confirm or deny that the flexible axles in the 8448 Supercar were first released in Znap sets? Thanks! Steve (...) (24 years ago, 9-Feb-00, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.technic, lugnet.znap)

Re: 8448 Flexible Axles (was Re: Parts from 8448 not LDrawn)

(...) Can you revisit Technica and say that again? He removed this information from the page. Fredrik (24 years ago, 10-Feb-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: 8448 Flexible Axles (was Re: Parts from 8448 not LDrawn)

(...) There were flexible axles in the Znap (motorized) sets. But they are much different than the ones in the 8448. The ones in Znap are "drive" axles, they allow the motor to be in one orientation and the item(s) driven to be in another. It uses a (...)   Re: ZNAP (was:8448 Flexible Axles (was Re: Parts from 8448 not LDrawn))

(...) Disagree. I like it and it has a lot of potential for large structures. I'd DEFINITELY take it for free... I am buying a bunch from Busy Bee. I just wish there were more colors per piece, instead of the pieces being essentially color coded.. I (...) (24 years ago, 10-Feb-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: ZNAP (was:8448 Flexible Axles (was Re: Parts from 8448 not LDrawn))

I don't find much of ZNAP very useful (though I might buy a 3571 just to build a bridge), but I DO wish they had a ZNAP drive axle accessory pack! I currently have no designs planned that would need them, but I'd like to HAVE them in my inventory (...) (24 years ago, 10-Feb-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: 8448 Flexible Axles (was Re: Parts from 8448 not LDrawn)

(...) Ah! Thank you, Wayne. (...) From the rumblings in lugnet.loc.uk, it doesn't seem likely -- people only appreciate Znap when it's on clearance. :-/ Steve (24 years ago, 10-Feb-00, to lugnet.znap, lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: 8448 Flexible Axles (was Re: Parts from 8448 not LDrawn)

(...) Found it! (URL) They were *not* introduced in Znap. But the odd length axle with the stop-collar *was* introduced in Znap. (URL) So, should these parts be included in Technic, or should a new category for Znap be started? Steve (24 years ago, 10-Feb-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: ZNAP (was:8448 Flexible Axles (was Re: Parts from 8448 not LDrawn))

(...) color (...) Nice bridge, Larry. I've done a "Bascule" type train bridge with a lift span of about 40 inches that wouldn't have been possible without Znap.
