Yes something along the lines of them/subtheme characters, and I have a vague
recollection that I had seen some classification of this sort elsewhere on the
Web. But this more formal organisation really does demand that we break the
convention that the same pattern on different parts uses the same p.. number,
and this is a valid objection. Unless we change the nomenclature for all
patterned parts - and I suspect that would be unpopular / too much work.
I have no real feeling for how important the decorated torsos are to most
people, so if that interest is minor (as I suspect) we could just carry on as
we are, allocating numbers arbitrarily, but trying to keep contemporary
patterns together. Basically I don't want to make a big deal out of this or
encourage lots of discussion as to the best way to categorise each new torso.
Nor, I suspect, does Terry want to arbitrate over another contentious area.
