Linux programs for the LDraw CD-ROM

Hi, I've talked to Tim about including Linux programs on the CD and he asked me to write a setup program, so now I need to know what programs are available. If you're the author of a Linux L-CAD utility then please email me with instructions on how (...) (24 years ago, 14-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Organizational business for ldraw.org as pertains to future activities

(...) In a sense, I would say it is. (...) Debatable. It would be wise to talk to a financial person about these issues. Someone in Lugnet, or I have a friend who used to do financial stuff who said there's someone I can be referred to. I can try to (...) (24 years ago, 13-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw) !

Re: Organizational business for ldraw.org as pertains to future activities

(...) Here are my thoughts: The ldraw.org group's purpose is to further the advancement of James Jessiman's .dat file format and LDraw suite, introducing to new users and aiding them in a fuller understanding of the program, therefore enhancing the (...)   Re: Organizational business for ldraw.org as pertains to future activities

(...) <snip> OK, Tim and I talked during + after the fest and I offered to help research the issue a bit. A quick look through the types of exempt organizations [1] narrows the search down to Charitable Organizations. I looked into "Social Clubs" (...)   Re: Organizational business for ldraw.org as pertains to future activities

(...) First issue: What is ldraw.org? We need a clear definition of what the 'group' is, why it exists, and what it does. Steve (24 years ago, 13-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Re: CD-ROM Status

(...) Right now they aren't available becuase the project needs to be finished and the copies need to be made. I'm considering a preorder system at a couple bucks off the $10 price for the purpose of helping raise the preliminary funds needed. I'll (...)   Re: CD-ROM Status

Tim: Please excuse my ignorance if this has been asked and answered ad nauseam (I have tried to follow these posts of yours), but how does one purchase or otherwise obtain the resulting cd-rom? I am very keen to support this fan- based effort. (...) (24 years ago, 12-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  CD-ROM Status

Just thought I'd give out another update on the status of the CD-ROM: The HTML guide is almost done. This is what needs to be done before we can ship: Finish guide: Reformat Knudsen article, finish a few pages including installation instructions for (...) (...) Also, I'm most likely going to set up a Paypal account tonight. I'll let everyone know what it is, I'm sure that would be easier. -Tim (24 years ago, 12-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Organizational business for ldraw.org as pertains to future activities

Hello! I believe there are some group issues to attend to before ldraw.org starts selling CDs. I got to talk to a lot of people this weekend and received valuable input towards the direction of this now nebulous group and what needs to take place in (...)   Re: Parts Library Posted to ldraw.org

(...) I see. Sorry that I misunderstood you. What I meant to say, initially, was that with the lack of terms of use statements for community submitted parts, it would be natural to assume that the terms of use for James Jessiman's original parts (...)   Re: Parts Library Posted to ldraw.org

(...) Should we work towards developing a license for the parts as content separate from the ldraw.org site? Once we have this the submitting authors can read a copy and approve before they submit in the future, and we can make provisions to adopt (...)   Re: LDraw not to sell CD-ROM at Kidvention in July & Misc CD-ROM issues

  Re: Getting Started (Corrections) !

(...) No, the current download ldraw.exe does *not* include LP97-13 and LP97-14. Terry is updating/repacking James Jessiman's releases, to make a single distribution file which will include ldraw.exe, lp97-13.exe, and lp97-14.exe. But it isn't (...) (24 years ago, 12-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Modelling !

(...) I'm not sure that would prove anything -- baseplates are trimmed slightly smaller than the full stud-pitch. If you join two baseplates with bricks or plates on top, there will be a slight gap between the two baseplates. Now, taking those two (...) (24 years ago, 12-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: LDraw not to sell CD-ROM at Kidvention in July & Misc CD-ROM issues

If there is something which is more annoying than a person posting a one-line-reply, it is a person posting a one-line-reply _and_ five automatically inserted signature lines. I have never heard any (...) (24 years ago, 12-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Re: ldglite dev version questions

(...) Ouch, "dismal" eh? You're absolutely right though. The 6pre8 file has two Windows-dependent "features" that haven't been cleaned up yet. I do have a 6pre9 cleaned up version that I haven't gotten around to putting on the web site yet. I was (...) (24 years ago, 12-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Getting Started (Corrections) !

  Re: Organizing the LDraw CD-ROM

(...) Interesting question. Because the mythical OMR doesn't exist yet, we're not including that on the CD.   Re: LDraw not to sell CD-ROM at Kidvention in July & Misc CD-ROM issues

And we will plug the CD-ROM indirectly on our literature. It will all be made clear in plain (...) (24 years ago, 12-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Re: Organizing the LDraw CD-ROM

Hey Tim, Will L3P v1.2 be on the CDROM? I can't seem to get a copy from anywhere. If anybody knows where a copy can be found, please let me know. Lars seems to be MIA. -Chuck (24 years ago, 11-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Re: Organizing the LDraw CD-ROM

Hey tim, would it be possible to include samples of .dats and POV rendered files on the cd? If so, I have nearly finished my .dat of 8448 - V8 Supercar MkII.   Re: Modelling !

(...) For large LEGO elements, the difference would probably be significant, so I would suggest using 0.3937mm = 1LDU. But it's normally better to measure new elements along long LEGO beams, when applicable. Fredrik (24 years ago, 10-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Modelling !

(...) But 0.4mm = 1 LDU (also known as 1mm = 2.5 LDU) is for us Metrics a solid enough basis to model parts with. Greetings, M. Moolhuysen (24 years ago, 10-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Modelling !

(...) This is only an approximation. The LEGO bricks are not metric -- The dimensions are based on inches. The width of one brick is 5/16 inch and the height (without studs) is 6/16 inch. So 0.39370mm = 1LDU is more precise. I normally try to (...) (24 years ago, 10-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

So when is the next LDraw parts update going to be?

I was wondering when they were going to do the next update for the LDraw parts library. It seams like they have been voting for over a month or two now. (24 years ago, 10-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  ldglite dev version questions

  Re: Modelling !

(...) Some of this has come up in various discussions. I'm not sure if all of it has or not. (...) No, centering on a stud isn't necessary. Look at 3001.dat, the 2x4 brick. It is centered on X-Z, not on a stud. The same applies for all other (...) (24 years ago, 9-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Getting Started (Corrections) !

Is it just me or the "Get Started" page in (URL) missing the files: lp97-13.exe lp97-14.exe which are required to be unpacked after "LDraw.exe" file and before the "Complete.exe" file. We shouldn't confuse new users ! See ya Rui Martins (24 years ago, 9-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)
