ldraw.org MOTM & SOTM Winner for December 2002

Huzzah! Sorry for the delay... Holidays and all. MOTM for December is Jeff Kiser's "Piano Keys". An intriguing concept, better explained now with Jeff's text. I wonder if it could actually work? SOTM is Peter Palfy's "Prison!". I like this scene. (...) (22 years ago, 3-Jan-03, to lugnet.announce, lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw) !

Adding creator and file types to L3P output

Well, I got tired of opening files with BBEdit and setting the file type to text, so I hacked (and I really mean hacked) together a little Droplet (an AppleScript application that is drag and drop aware) to convert the creator and file types to (...)   LDraw.org 2002-06 Parts Update Now Available

Happy New Year! It's a few minutes after midnight, ldraw.org server time (ie, GMT). The final parts update for 2002 is now available. This is update 2002-06, a small package of just 54 files. It's become a tradition for me to put out an update just (...) (22 years ago, 31-Dec-02, to lugnet.announce, lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dev) !

  LDRAW Viewer and L3P

I just noticed that L3P and LDRAW Viewer do not play well together. Running an LDRAW Viewer file through L3P produces a ".pov" file that contains only 1 black brick. On a hunch, I ran the LDRAW Viewer file through BBEdit and saved the file with Unix (...) (22 years ago, 31-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac)

  ldraw viewer 0.4 observations

I uninstalled Fruit Menu to see if it was the source of my crashes, but now after using contextual menu to change color of a brick, mouse clicks register about 30 pixels to low. When I click on a brick, I wind up selecting the brick two bricks down, (...) (22 years ago, 30-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac)

Re: New primitive box3-2.dat (was Re: What's up with box3#8.dat?)

(...) I'll have patience. These dull and rainy holidays in the Netherlands are ideal to do some part authoring ;-) Yes I have families to consider, too.   Re: New primitive box3-2.dat (was Re: What's up with box3#8.dat?)

Chris, I'm alright with the 'u' convention. It'd be wicked cool if someone sat down and figured out all the possible box configurations (there can't be *that* many of them), so we could have a clearer idea of what we're trying to describe. Then (...) (22 years ago, 30-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

(...) Patience please - it's the holiday season and some of us have families to consider. I was hoping to get more replies to (URL) I explained the naming convention as currently implemented. So, if no-one is bothered, I'll change box3#8p.dat to (...) (22 years ago, 29-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

New primitive box3-2.dat (was Re: What's up with box3#8.dat?)

Still no answer on the box primitive naming conventions. For my spoked wheels I needed a new primitive, like the box3#8.dat but with all adjecent edges. I named it box3-2.dat (Box, 3 faces drawn, 2 edges left out), but how should I name it so I can (...) (22 years ago, 29-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Mac LDraw Viewer comments

(...) No, I didn't have back face culling turned on. Turning on BFC causes the window frames to disappear.   Re: QTVR of a model

For those with a high speed internet connection: (URL) (2.4 M). This is the same model, but it is colored (so it is easier to see). It has about twice as many angles, but it still has the same view bounds. James (22 years ago, 24-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac)

  Re: QTVR of a model

(...) NO WAY! I haven't gotten the following to work quite right, but here it is. It will generate about 180 of the 360 images it is suppose to. Then it quites rendering. I have no idea why.
