I thought of 4x4, too. First I rejected the idea as I thought it would only
save 15 lines in a file but then I realized that it can be used more than
once in a file. I can't find any other sombinations that I would like to
have. Maybe, maybe a cluster of some stud4's, but no not for the monent.

Regarding a naming convention, though, do we know how all renderers recognise
STUDx primitives to do the STU2x substitution for fast-draw mode? To avoid any
conflict here, and to add further value to the name, how about something like
STUCx-z meaning Stud Cluster x by z. I dont see any value in both x and z >going to 2 digits.

That's OK with me. As long as it won't conflict with the highly unofficial
but to an unknown extent spread clone primities studc.dat, studc2.dat and
studc2z.dat.

The existing parts\s\4186a.dat would become p\stuc1-48.dat. I'm
also assuming here that this would only be of value for regular stud.dat
primitives, so we dont need an extra character to capture the x in STUDx.DAT.

Moving and renaming always involves the risk of obsolete orphan files left
behind, but otherwise I don't mind.

(...) Hey, thanks for thinking of me! At present, I believe the only "official unofficial" stud primitives for the clone.dat project are studc.dat and stud2cl.dat. I'll have to double-check the studc2z.dat, though. In the interest of diplomacy and (...) (22 years ago, 21-Oct-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)
