The short answer to this question is, in most cases, yes
The long answer is most converters do not have significant enough primitive
detection to submit a part immediately after conversion. For example,
STL2DAT detects cylinders, sort of, but as for other commonly used
primitives, like rings, cones, and axleholes, it does not. Futhermore,
STL2DAT always seems to add wierd triangles in green and blue colors.
What am I trying to say? Well, it's this: Even if we get a well made
converter with decent primitve detection, we're still going to need to do
some post-processing, such as combining triangles into quads and
substituting in the more complex primitives.
