I think there is also a version with 2 rows of tubes, but I don't have a
picture of it yet.

I'm not involved with LDraw modeling, but I am a fan of minor variations,
like those discussed in this thread. Even minor variations can effect the
function of the brick. Hollow bottom bricks can be slid (or offset) relative
to the piece below, modern pieces with tubes can't. Hollow stud versions of
parts allow pieces (like rods) to be inserted into the hollow studs, or
bricks offset using the solid underside tube mating into the hollow stud. In
the case of the 2x2 cone, the completely hollow stud allows many more uses
that its solid stud or partially hollow stud companions.
