This actually looks like the best solution to me.  It gets around lots of
unforseen problems.  For instance, when I originally did the scene on the
stairs, I tilted the camera by looking up the stairs with the look_at
parameter.  But that caused me to need two hot spots at the bottom of the
stairs at the camera seam.  I solved the problem by looking sideways at the
wall and tilting the camera so that my left side was pointing up the stairs
using a rotate command.  I don't know what other tewaks I might need to do
to the camera, but an include file would solve all of them.  I can see it
also being useful for flying camera animations.
