No mention of scale in file format doc

Regarding the proposed file format document: (URL) is no mention of the scale used by the x/y/z triplets in the various linetypes. I would suggest there should be a paragraph introducing the concept of LDU, and how it relates to bricks and "real (...) (20 years ago, 24-Feb-05, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Re: A few rendered MOCs

(...) Nice. I built the dice in the real world before (different interior). The only problem I found is getting them to land upright. Solution is to add more dots of the same color as the background so that each side has a larger flat area to rest (...) (20 years ago, 24-Feb-05, to lugnet.cad.dat.models, FTX)

  A few rendered MOCs

Here are a few MOCs that I've whipped up since discovering LDraw. (6 URLs) Brickshelf> Hope you enjoy, Chris. (20 years ago, 24-Feb-05, to lugnet.cad.dat.models, lugnet.announce.moc, FTX) !

Re: Slope parts with patterns...  [DAT]

To shear a part, you basically decide which axes are effected, such as the part's Y value increases or decreases as the Z value increases, and then add a shearing factor to the matrix in the right (...)   Re: New LSynth features (Att. many pics!!!)

(...) Sorry, I'm not familiar with it at all, I've never actually used it. (...) Perhaps we could define a full little meta language with quantifiers like end positions, element types, point masses, area masses, elastic moduli, shear moduli (for (...) (20 years ago, 22-Feb-05, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: New LSynth features (Att. many pics!!!)

(...) Aren't these both instances of "Lego String" just with different terminators?? Another instance would be the hose reel itself and termination at the other end into any of a number of different hooks. Those all terminate with a knotted loop (...) (20 years ago, 22-Feb-05, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: New LSynth features (Att. many pics!!!)

(...) Tim, This is awesome! Are you familiar with how synthesis specifications are described for LSynth? I guess I could imagine: 0 SYNTH BEGIN STRINGMESH 0 // add your constraints here 0 SYNTH END The constraints would have to include what the mesh (...) (20 years ago, 22-Feb-05, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

  Re: BBB wheels

(...) When importing from 3DS files into Max, you need to weld vertices for the model after import. 3DS files contain lots of coincident vertices for historic reasons. "max2dat" (my new name for ase2dat) now has native 3DS support, and handles (...) (20 years ago, 22-Feb-05, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, FTX)

Re: New LSynth features (Att. many pics!!!)

(...) Hi Kevin, My research is on the deformation of flexible structures (like rods, hoses etc.). I'd be happy to do some work on integrating some of these models into lsynth. If anyone is interested, here is a link to some of my work ((URL)-free (...) (20 years ago, 22-Feb-05, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: New LSynth features (Att. many pics!!!)

(...) Hi Willy, Don and I are working on lsynth now. You are right, hoses are restricted to LS00.dat and it is not always the logical choice. I've made both hose and band synthesis descriptions tabular, and also have band constraints as tabular. I (...) (20 years ago, 22-Feb-05, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

  MLcad and LSynth

Hi Michael, I've been working on lsynthcp.exe lately, giving it the rewrite it has always needed, compacting code, making it more robust and decreasing synthesized file size dramatically.   Re: LSynth synthesis and needed sub-parts

(...) Hi Willy, Hah! RTFM! *The book* "LEGO Software Power Tools" makes it clear that LS00.DAT is the only constraint associated with hoses. Sorry, just in a good mood, because I just finished up rewriting the band synthesis code and made it much (...) (20 years ago, 22-Feb-05, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Slope parts with patterns...

Would making the pattern face of a slope (or wedge) a subpart to be used with the main piece (without face) subpart be ok? I'm thinking, that for slopes (and wedges), it would be easier to make the pattern a flat subpart, then rotate the subpart to (...) (20 years ago, 22-Feb-05, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)
