Re: About installing/Reinstalling Ldraw and about datville

I rendered Town00.dat in 800x600. It took 7 minutes and 15 seconds. Last night, I rendered 5 submodels + townpeep.dat at 640x480. It took 2 hours and 44 minutes. (Same combination at quality=0 took something like 20-30 seconds). What I learned fom (...) (23 years ago, 11-Sep-01, to lugnet.cad)

Re: "Tore's" boxes, special file naming instructions

Not a full suggestion, but just a thought. I've thought about calling them "minimized" parts, and maybe the extention .min intead of .box. There is a problem though. I have two different areas in which I could use different levels of simplification: (...) (23 years ago, 11-Sep-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  DO-OVER --- September MOTM/SOTM

Hi all, OK. Jacob has fixed things on the new server [ thanks, Jacob ], and patiently explained to me how it works, [ not an easy task :-) ] so the voting is back on. But it's a DO-OVER!! Starting from scratch, so get over there and cast your vote. (...) (23 years ago, 11-Sep-01, to lugnet.announce, lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: Model 6824: Space Dart-I  [DAT]

I was having problems getting this to work in MLCAD so I put it in mpd format. 0 FILE m6824.dat 0 Model #6824: Space Dart I 0 Digital verison by: James Jackson 0 At a later date, #6824 will be recolored for H:Masters. 0 Converted to MPD format by (...)   "Tore's" boxes, special file naming instructions

This is regarding the "officialization" of Tore's boxes (I'll call them ttore boxes, for short), and the making of new boxes have no corresponding Lego part. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestion on how I should name the files of new boxes I (...) (23 years ago, 10-Sep-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

I think growing interest via this method might be exponential, instead of linear (as is true of the current method). (...) I really think that would be a better idea (...)   Re: About installing/Reinstalling Ldraw and about datville

Here's a question that may sound strange, but I'll explain why I'm asking it at the bottom of this message. Does anyone know how long it takes to render Datsville vs. rendering each submodel within Datsville seperately? I was thinking, that with (...) (23 years ago, 10-Sep-01, to lugnet.cad)

  Parts list bug?

I am running MLCad 2.00 R 4 and I think I may have found a bug in the report for parts I have a large model with several submodels. If I check parts per step and leave submodels unchecked it seems to generate a correct list for the main model. But (...) (23 years ago, 10-Sep-01, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

Re: Part 30562 Wall 1 x 4 x 6 Corner Round (with bottom added)  [DAT]

(...) Cool, another excuse to put the 3 months I spent on the bottom half of 30056 to some use. I don't know how you guys can zip out these parts so fast. It took me forever to do that one piece, and I asked Steve so many questions he might as well (...) (23 years ago, 10-Sep-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: 3997 Nowhere to be Found???

(...) Thanks, Dean, for sending those parts to me privately. While they look great, the tower DAT isn't the one I'm looking for. The one in set 6468 is a simple 2 x 4 tile base with the two sides of the tower protruding directly up from both long (...) (23 years ago, 10-Sep-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: 3997 Nowhere to be Found???

(...) First off, you should post them here, in lugnet.cad.dat.parts. Then you should send them to parts@ldraw.org, for potential inclusion in the ldraw parts library. Steve (23 years ago, 10-Sep-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: #30592 Plate 2 x 4 with brick and pin

I was wondering what that first number was. I allready did this part, only I forgot the triads inside block part. Also I used my own RECT-1 primitives in it for the top and sides. (23 years ago, 10-Sep-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: Part 30562 Wall 1 x 4 x 6 Corner Round

(...) I would suggest using bits from part 30056 for the bottom half. That's what I did when I worked on the quarter panel with spherous top. Also I would use 1-4CYLI.DAT, 1-4EDGE.DAT, and and 1-4RING3 primitives in the file to reduce size. (23 years ago, 10-Sep-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: How to set up my own catagories?

Well, found out that if I start MLCad indirectly by double-clicking on a .DAT or .MPD file, the default grouping is shown. But if I open MLCad first before loadint a model, then the groupings I set up are shown. And I am using an older (v1.99) (...) (23 years ago, 10-Sep-01, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

  Part 30562 Wall 1 x 4 x 6 Corner Round  [DAT]

99% finished, but I was hitting burn-out factor on this one. The bottom needs work, for now has bottom studs in place of the boxed off sections. Now, since NO WAY am I up to putting images on a curved surface, it's up to someone else to 'paint' or (...) (23 years ago, 10-Sep-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: How to set up my own catagories?

(...) I've looked up the code and recognized a small bug there. There is no message when it cannot save the group. I guess you do not have write permission to the mlcad directory (e.g. if running from a cd-rom). Also if you have any older version (...) (23 years ago, 10-Sep-01, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)
