Thanks! I was very surprised at the strength of Steves method of joining the
triangles. If youre making something *really* large, you might have to brace
each triangle with a second set of hinges on the corners. Dont know how well
it shows up in the pictures, here is how each side of the triangles is made:
top (outside) layer: 1x4 plate (black or white)
dark grey 1x4 hinges
1x1 clip light / 1x1 plate / 1x1 clip light / 1x1 plate
bottom (inside) layer: 1x4 plate (black)
(If you need a second set of hinges for strength, put them here.)
Just about anything based on equalateral triangles should be buildable:
dodecahedron, icosidodecahedron, etc... (Thanks, Google!)
And yes, it was a very medatative project. It very quickly got to the point
where I was building the triangles without looking at them. ;-)
