Plate Click Hinge, strong, very attachable, very hidable, hole in center good!
Technic arm joint (super battle droid, UCS Naboo fighter stand) Also good,
not as strong, axle hole and shape of core make a little awkward to use.
Liking the plates with click hinge attachment. Breaths more life into click
hinges.
1/2 friction pin 1/2 axle. A Godsend, I kid you not.
this piece: http://peeron.com/inv/parts/6048 and it's mate
http://peeron.com/inv/parts/6217 with friction. These parts make all
kinds of smaller mechs possible.
One of these:
http://peeron.com/inv/parts/6536
But with a pin hole in both directions, and also same piece with axle
connector in each direction.
I do like the small ball and socket mounts, but the socket could be easier
to mount to brick. Maybe a brick mount for the small ball?
A quick comment on the new ball and socket joints (gun mounts on ATTE) I
think LEGO missed the mark with these. They're real big, not too strong,
and are really hard to attach anything to securely. (the ball part) The
hole is slightly enlarged so a pin doesn't grab, nor will an axle positively
grab it, and the stud pattern on it only mildly grabs a plate or brick.
Could have been better. Much better.
I think what I really crave are parts that allow mobility, and strength.
It's got to support the weight of a mech, and move.

| Thanks for all the great replies! I too build in much the same manner. Let me clarify, Specifically what kinds of parts do you use when building Mecha, and or types of peices would you like more of? e (...) (22 years ago, 14-Mar-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)
