When setting out to "Make a Mech".....What 5 things do you need when building?

What is it your looking for when you set your pieces out and begin building?

What parts help you or what do you think would help you in building Mecha?

Hmmm...I agree with most other replies, but my creative process really takes off when I follow this pattern... --I'm not inspired by Japanese Cartoons, though they ARE cool... --I'm not a huge fan of "forward" knees (like on a human), unless (...)
