Chris, this is just stellar. I really dig the spiney lower torso and the hips. And your use of the Bionicle feet really works well with this mecha. Chris this is awesome!! the articulation is fantastic as always, such awesome poses you have there. you used the super battle droid parts so well. Chris, this is one of your best mecha yet. The articulation, as always, is nothing short of stellar (well, IMHO anyway). Design wise, I really love the legs, spine, and shoulders. You even sneaked missiles into the hips; you're finally adding (...) (22 years ago, 19-Aug-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  First animation or my mech 'prototype'
 
I've finished my first animation, using the mech prototype (with a improved head) It's only 8 seconds but it took almost 1.5 hours to render. I've managed to squeeze it in a 1.4MB 400x300 Divx 5 file. It's not the best quality (compared to the 260MB (...) (22 years ago, 19-Aug-02, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.cad.ray)

(...) Thanks for the kind comments! Sadly, the FireSkull doesn't look much like any of the Eva out there because I am still having trouble addapting the ridgit Lego pieces to simulate organic forms. Mladen, This mecha is SO awesome! The lower legs are perfect, the shapes there are so awesome. so perfectly anime. I agree with Eric, the feet are awesome as well. I've finished my first complete mech in mlcad. Tough it still needs some work, I am not super happy with the head and hands. Wow. Another great mech, as always! The widening contours of the legs really adds to the name of the mecha...that and shoulders combine to form a really hefty and stable looking mecha. (...) were twisted out a bit, such that the feet aren't pointing in the same direction. Your other more recent mecha also have this feature, but for some reason, it's very noticable on this mecha. First off, I built a new mecha. Basically, I just wanted to add as much weaponry on it as I could. The bazooka is my personal favourite. ;-) It also comes with a zero-g pack, radome, and smoke discharger system. Naturally, I was inspired heavily by (...) This is my moon base. It is prety much a one room building with a counter and a clerk droid. I will probably remake it to be bigger and have something in it. I'll post it in a couple of weeks, but the technique is very similar to the plate hinge stiffening technique. Personally, on my wish list is a (...) (...) The listed copyright owners of the core Gundam series are Sotsu Agency and Sunrise. Bandai is the only company that I can think of that is currently producing Gundam related merchandise. I would definitely like to see Lego acquire a license and started producing mecha themed sets(if they can't do something cool on their own - highly likely). I've made a point of avoiding video games for years now. It's weird because I love them. I know this is gonna seem REALLY Old Skool, but, I loved my Nintendo! Interesting solution! I had tried the long pins and found that the end I wanted to stay stayed for the most part...but it wasn't reliable. Increasing the friction of one end is a novel idea indeed. Interesting! Up until now, I had categorically dismissed all non-discrete forms of linear motion. Cam mechs are a wonderful idea! I gave them a try though, and sadly, didn't work out as I had hoped. Luke, I'm stummped too! Although I'm just not sure at what your trying to accomplish. Maybe these two pix can help. I use a Cam Mechanism to achive linear motion. i to have had a similar problem involving a scaled-down version of some of the big mech joints, and your problem has reminded me of a version i scrapped a few months ago. try getting some of the flex tubing that can be found in the anikins podracer (...)
