Luke, I'm stummped too! Although I'm just not sure at what your trying to
accomplish. Maybe these two pix can help.

I use a Cam Mechanism to achive linear motion. The end out put is a
controlled recipricating motion.

Interesting! Up until now, I had categorically dismissed all non-discrete forms of linear motion. Cam mechs are a wonderful idea! I gave them a try though, and sadly, didn't work out as I had hoped. As always, space-constraint was the issue. Don't (...) (22 years ago, 9-Aug-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Mechexperts: I'm working on a secret [read:unworthy] project and have been trying to think of achieving a certain type of motion without success.
