Hey, Great question. As with many castle guys, I would have to say it was set (URL) 3739, the Dan Siskind Blacksmith Shop>. Lots of great sets mentioned here. Like many here, I remember pouring over an idea book with equal parts wonder and frustration at my limited LEGO supply. As a PAB addict, I agree with many of you for whom something other than a "set" (PAB, (...) (18 years ago, 30-May-07, to lugnet.build)
