Hi Arthur,

thanks for sharing this amazing model of the Cathedral. When I first saw the thumbnails at brickshelf I thought it would be minifig-scale. But you realised to put so much details and iconic structures even in a smaller microfig-scale model. Great work and I also like the use of the “down side out” way. This building method really stresses the various shapes of “plates modified”, e.g. the combination of 1x4 plate with fingers and 1x2 plate with fingers form the hinge plate.

A highlight is the dome. The flex axles and the mini antenna bases gives it really realistic smooth view! And also you found cool ways to deal with the non-cubic octagonal shapes of the Cathedral. Well done, this is the way I like to see LEGO elements used by AFOLs!

The result is great but you asked for critiques - let’s say improvements:

-- The pics are bit to dark, Could you use daylight?

-- I miss some more detailed pics of the main portal.

-- Could you add some pics of the real building so everybody can see how close our model is to the real building?

-- The shape of the main dome in real looks more like a half of an American football rather then a shere and the top of the dome doesn’t seems to be white. Could you fix the flex axles a bit different so that they taper off a bit more at the top of the dome?

Afterall your model as it is is amazing, so much details in microfig-scale and the brilliant use of elements in cool ways - highlighted!

Kind regards,

Holger

(...) I agree. My photography skills are lacking. Once a year, in the spring, I bring in a professional photographer (Jerry Mann) to take photos.
