  New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

(URL) (Click image for more) Pictures were taken outdoors because it barely fits on my desk, let alone my photo backround. Just over 100 studs long. Enjoy! Soren (20 years ago, 1-Jun-04, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.space, FTX) !!

  Re: New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

(...) Wow. Very nice. The overall shape is very familiar, yet original. Nice job on the exterior greebles/sensors/weapons. Looks great. I especially like the way a splash of white and dk red contrast the grey and yellow. On to the interior, I love (...) (20 years ago, 1-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

(...) (URL) I just took the basic shape and went from there. It took a long time to get the angles on the lower hull right but it was worth it. Guns and greebs are my specialties. I was jonesin' to get the basics finished so I could pretty it up :). (...) (20 years ago, 1-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

Wow, Soren, I just saw it on brickshelf, and I want the same! This ship is pure goodness! Smooth, studless, but it doesn't look like it was "forced" to be this way. I love the color scheme, the way colors are found on the ship : some bits of yellow (...) (20 years ago, 1-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

(...) (Blush) (...) Thank you. It took a long time but I think it was worthwhile. (...) Thanks. I went to a lot of trouble to get the look right, I'm glad you like it. The step was almost taken out at one point, good thing I left it in eh? (...) (...) (20 years ago, 1-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

(...) I love it! Looking at it makes me want to cruise the spaceways in it, searching for cargo ships to hijack. This thing's got studs going nine different ways at once. So many greeble designs to copy... Other than the small cabin, is there more (...) (20 years ago, 1-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

(...) Thank you. Nothing like jacking a freighter full of goodies to get your day started off right. (...) Nope. I figured the interior was large enough and left it at that. (...) It's the style, I'm not crazy about it either. (...) Thanks again (...) (20 years ago, 1-Jun-04, to lugnet.space)

  Re: New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

(...) Very nicely done! I love the detail work and the different uses of SNOT. Your use of the clear roof insert is very original...and I think I'll borrow it (and claim it as my own when your not around ;) This is a model I'd love to dee first (...) (20 years ago, 1-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

loving it! just enough studs to remind you that it's lego, bristling with implements of unpleasantness... and I particularly like the tiny cabin. it looks to me like there's the captain, his (her?) first mate, and that's about it for crew, (...) (20 years ago, 1-Jun-04, to lugnet.space)

  Re: New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

(...) Thank you. Actually there are two crew but the suit is just hanging there, I left the other one out so people could see more of the interior. The hull is supposed to be full of goodness, glad you picked up on that. Just the essentials; Fold (...) (20 years ago, 1-Jun-04, to lugnet.space)

  Re: New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

(...) Thank you. I love to do detail so it was a blast. (...) When you do, try it with plain clear panels... mmmm it looks good. (...) Well I'll be at Brickfest. The name is a reference, but I understand what you mean. (...) Thanks! Soren (20 years ago, 1-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

(...) Very nice Soren. I'm interested to see how this thing will look next to the Zhukov (which is 112 studs, with similiar mission). So far it looks like there is going to be a nice selection of big ships at fest! Perhaps I could ask a favor? Could (...) (20 years ago, 1-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

(...) Wow. This is great work Soren. I'm marveling at the lengths you went to to get the taper coming down to the front, yet the SNOT isn't too much...all parts looks so well integrated. Is that a little EVA pod in the top? The interiors...the (...) (20 years ago, 1-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

(...) I couldn't tell at first if this was a microfig or minifig scale ship. The more I looked at it the more I liked it, though. Unconventional and technical look with very nice detail work. It seems a nice addition to the building standard you've (...) (20 years ago, 1-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

(...) And lots of cargo for me to plunder :). (...) Already did. Haven't filled out the captions yet though. (URL) Here> (...) Living on an asteroid base doesn't leave you with many spare personnel. And the hardware takes up most of the extra space. (...) (20 years ago, 1-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

(...) Thanks. I very nearly went crazy(er) trying to get the angles to line up. (...) I wish. That's one of the things I had to leave out. Maybe in the next one. (...) Thank you. Soren (20 years ago, 1-Jun-04, to lugnet.space)

  Re: New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

(...) Y'know I get that a lot. Thank you. (...) Thanks! I love to detail stuff so it was more a question of when to stop :). (...) Thanks again. I try to make each one original but loosely connected, glad you like it. Soren (20 years ago, 1-Jun-04, to lugnet.space)

  Re: New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

(...) Nice work dude. That's a great use of yellow. I hope it gets MOC highlight... What was the inspiration for the ship's name? Cheers, (URL) Sci-Fi LEGO> (20 years ago, 1-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

(...) Thank you. I kept remembering your comment about tapering pointy noses while I built this. (...) Ringworld. Not a fave but I liked the name. Soren (20 years ago, 1-Jun-04, to lugnet.space)

  Re: New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

(...) Very good lookin' ship, or is that SHIP. I keep coming back to this trying to think of something to write, but since I can't come up with anything constructive I'll just say COOL! There are some very clever construction techniques in there (...) (20 years ago, 2-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

(...) Thanks. (...) Thanks again. I tried to stick some new stuff in, and I'm glad it works for you. (...) (Blush) Soren (20 years ago, 2-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

Soren, beautiful moc! I love all the greebling in contrast to the smooth sides, and the underside tapering looks very sweet. It's a SHIP! That in itself is an awesome feat. Nice use of your pirate color scheme. There's a lot of positive aspects that (...) (20 years ago, 2-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

(...) Thank you. (...) I won't say it then. I kinda like it, but I can see what you're talking about. (...) Thanks. Soren (20 years ago, 3-Jun-04, to lugnet.space)

  Re: New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

Soren, this is a masterpiece! Like others have said, the shape is superb, as is the detailing. I particularly like your weapon systems; they really inspire me, especially those nifty missiles. Unlike others, I kinda dig the white&red wing-like (...) (20 years ago, 3-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

(...) Thanks. Given that you're the king of missiles that's quite a compliment. I have trouble doing large engines for some reason, so I cop out with those big blocky nozzles. (...) Yeah, I've been thinking about that. I like the challenge of small (...) (20 years ago, 3-Jun-04, to lugnet.space)

  Re: New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

(...) That's where plagiarism comes in handy... (...) Here's one way to look at it: Large cramped spaces are the same thing, only more of it... --Bill. (20 years ago, 3-Jun-04, to lugnet.space)

  Re: New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

Hey Soren Pardon me for waiting so long to post, I just had to see the thing in person before I gave my opinion about it. This is a great addition to your pirate theme, very sleek and well-turned. I really like the hull angling on the bottom end, (...) (20 years ago, 16-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: New MOC: Pirate Cruiser

(...) Thank you. (...) I may just do that. I don't know, I may save them for my current project. (...) Or you could go the Outlaw Star route, and use minimissiles with cables. Saves grappling hook parts too, but it doesn't have the visual impact. (...) (20 years ago, 16-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)
