Step aside, kiddies, the BLOCK is BACK!
With the growing threat of 3vil, Dr.Terrible, the 3GA, and Space Hippies, the
Jr.Marshalate recognized the need for a reasonably cheap, easy to produce a
shuttle with long range capabilities and enough fire power to take down most
foes that larger ships, such as the
Kalashnikov were unable
to deal with.
The result is the Zhukov Class Assault Shuttle.
It carries a crew of four (one Komandant, and three Lejtenants), all of whom are
trained in all functions of the shuttle (pilot, navigator, 2 gunners). Armaments
include four large laser-cannons and four nuclear-tipped torpedoes. Engines are
a main Volelov Class III and two Volelov Class IIb thrusters. The Power supply
comes from three multi-level Lithium sub-fusion reactors in the Engine section.
The Zhukov is not meant to land, and features a brand new Eastern Block standard
portal that a smaller shuttle can dock with for crew transfers.

Building notes: inspired by Adrian’s secret SHIP project and Soren’s
Mephistopheles. I really like the ‘squareness’ of the Meph. which is what I
tried to replicate in the bridge section. I was playing with the idea of making
the neck part hollow to allow a fig to travel through so they can fix the engine
area, but that concept will have to wait til my next SHIP moc.
the entire thing is modular and breaks down into small componenents: bridge
section, neck section, engine section - for ease of transport. i will take
pictures of how exactly i do this later.
the neck is made using technic beams and some tricky snot to get studs on all
sides. i spent quite some time figuring that out. also, when i was editing
pictures for this, my computer BROKE and so i had to do this all on my wife’s
work computer. hehehe

| I like this one! Recently I build a boxy kind of space ship front head looking very similar to yours, but had a huge lack of inspiration for the body / engines. Hmmmm it looks a little bit like a shoe-box-with-a-dart...-and-fins. I guess somewhere (...) (21 years ago, 22-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

| (...) Nice work Lenny. I'm not a fan of the space wheels as nozzles, but the fins and angle plates give the engine a great look. I think the design of the bridge is perfect for the EB theme...very angular and emminently 'practical'...and the permanent frown of the front viewport is sufficiently menacing. | (...) I like it! The bridge and engine portions are quite perfect. Definitely Blockish. To be honest I'm not feeling the giant fins. | Lenny, I really like this one. Contrary to others' posts, I think the thick, sawtooth-edged fins work with the design. To me, it brings back memories of way-overbuilt Soviet aircraft.
