Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

Yup!! Starwars are in there now! They Also updated (URL) but you have to be a webclub member. I guess I'll have to join now. They don't seem to have the Episode 1 sets yet though. Jeff (26 years ago, 22-Jan-99, to lugnet.announce)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) Update: The Snowspeeder *Does* have orange pieces, and it has a "smokey" colored airplane windshield for the rear cockpit! Cool!! Jeff (26 years ago, 22-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) You also need to have Java Script turned on, and you need Shockwave Flash. *ack* The catalogue entries for Star Wars seem to focus on the fact that the sets can be used to make alternate models too. I like this. (URL) (26 years ago, 22-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) Also, There is a really easy quiz that will allow you to see an Episode 1 set, but the Java Applet for the set image is broken! Jeff (26 years ago, 22-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

[redirecting discussion to lugnet.starwars] (...) I've noticed that the questions change each time you take it (had to take it twice because I tried Netscape and MSIE to see if the java applet worked). (26 years ago, 22-Jan-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) It was nice to see questions that weren't all total no-brainers. Most were pretty easy for an SW-head but some looked like they might tricky for the casual fan or the younger generation. Too bad the Java applet is broken, I couldn't get it to (...) (26 years ago, 22-Jan-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) Chances are, it is the Naboo Fighter. I'm just hoping there's more detail. Anyone notice that the Canopy for the Naboo Fighter would fit perfectly on an A-wing? I'm betting we'll see one next year. Jeff (26 years ago, 22-Jan-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) Seeing Star Wars and questions reminds me of what we did with some friends last week - SW Trivial Pursuit. My friend Jack won, as he should considering how much he is into SW, with my wife Rachael coming in second. I came in third (out of 4) (...) (26 years ago, 22-Jan-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) FYI: that's color 32 in LDraw. Trans-black. Well, maybe color 40. Trans-dk grey. Steve (26 years ago, 22-Jan-99, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) It wasn't. The apparent point being that you can use these sets to make non-Star Wars models. (26 years ago, 22-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) I'm assuming that's what the 'secret' set is. How could 'lightsaber duel' be from Episode I? The only duel worth mentioning was Obi-Wan vs. Darth Vader. Steve (26 years ago, 22-Jan-99, to lugnet.starwars)

That we know of so far. (...) Jorge Rodriguez rodriguez.136@osu.edu (26 years ago, 22-Jan-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) From the info I've seen on Episode I, 7101 Lightsaber Duel will probably be Obi-wan and Darth Maul, or the guy played by Liam Neeson and Darth Maul. Jeff (26 years ago, 22-Jan-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

The 'Mech that you can create with the alt-XWing seems pretty interesting. Might have to pick up a couple of these to have several models built at once ... (...) -- Lee Jorgensen, Programmer/Analyst - Bankoe Systems, Inc. (...) (26 years ago, 22-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

Terry, did you see the alternate models of the snowspeeder and x-wing? It looks like the new hinge for the x-wing wings has the same form as the windscreen hinge. Look at the legs on the snowspeeder alt. model. 1X2 bricks with 1 and 2 fingers off (...) (26 years ago, 22-Jan-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) Yeah, and in the case of the hovercraft thing with Luke and that old dude, you can make a really goofy-looking one that doesn't look like much of anything. :) (26 years ago, 22-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) Our family played that on Christmas. We had teams, and my sister and I won - which was a major shock to her son. Mister SW trivia, force-enabled, mega-fan. Boy, was that a blow to his ego. :-) While playing the game, we had a running joke: If (...) (26 years ago, 23-Jan-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) No, not yet. But I thought of the same thing when I read about the alternates! But from your description, I am surprised. Those don't seem like they would be that stiff. -- Terry K -- (26 years ago, 23-Jan-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

What a disappointment! I go to this page, and I get the message "We do not support Internet Explorer for Mac." Lego, please continue to shoot yourself in the foot. -Michael ---...--- (...) (26 years ago, 23-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) Well, I guess it's a matter of degree. They keep making Town Jr and they alienate what, a thousand or so known AFOLs? They don't support IE for the Mac and they alienate a fairly small percentage of an already tiny percentage of computers (...) (26 years ago, 23-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) For us it was Han Solo. :) It was actually kinda fun to watch my friend Jack play because whenever we were amazed that he knew some minute detail about an obscure scene he would procede to recite and describe it for us. Kinda like how some (...) (26 years ago, 23-Jan-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) Not completely their fault -- the page uses Shockwave Flash, so complain to Macromedia. (They created a Navigator for Linux plug-in.... enough pressure and they'll create a Mac one.)   Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) Jack sounds like my nephew. But despite having that prodigious mass of intricate detail, he still couldn't win. That is going to hang over his head for years. May even warp his personality. :-) -- Terry K -- (26 years ago, 23-Jan-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) Uh, yes. That was what I meant to say. Sorry for being unclear. Some sets the last years have come without any alternate models at all, so I'm happy to see that the Star Wars sets have. Take Time Cruisers as an example (no alternate models), (...) (26 years ago, 23-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) Hrmmm.... as much as I don't like either TC or TT, I think the point could be made that the entire line is nothing but alternate models. (26 years ago, 23-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) You weren't. I was trying to be funny. (...) Isn't it funny (and a bit sad) how the SW sets are more "LEGO" than the regular System sets (ie, Adventurers, Town Center, etc.). The new pieces are less specialized, the sets build reasonable (...) (26 years ago, 23-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) Almost makes you wonder if Lucas made some sort of demand that the sets be more traditional and less like the crap TLG is making for the other themes now. (26 years ago, 23-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) That's exactly what came to my mind, while reading Larry's dear lego post, stating that a clueless "brainy" from TLG expresed that "juniorization" is the way to go for all sets, and TLG is happy with that. Selçuk (26 years ago, 24-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) I'm with you on this one. With the previously noted exception of the town junior double-sloped piece for the x-wing rear landing gear, I'm very impressed with the construction and new piece selection of the SW sets. I'm going to have to buy (...) (26 years ago, 24-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) I wondered that, too. It makes some sense--Lucas can pick and choose their licensees. So if they contract with LEGO, it's because they want to see Star Wars in LEGO form. So why make it in a watered-down, Star Wars, Jr. style? Steve (26 years ago, 24-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) That's what I had expected when the whole SW-LEGO thing started. An X-wing made out of maybe a dozen pieces. Steve (26 years ago, 24-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) Well, in the area of browsers I guess I would tend to choose Communicator over IE. But, in general, Mac users are more accustomed to getting very little of anything and paying more for it when they get it, so wouldn't it make a lot of sense (...) (26 years ago, 25-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) I've now done it on both NN for Win32 and Linux. I believe that it was broken at first but was fixed, so try reloading. (26 years ago, 25-Jan-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) Yikes. If they could have come up with an alternate model for most TC stuff which used most of the pieces, I'd have been quite impressed. Those are some really weird things! (26 years ago, 25-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!!

(...) Didn't you guys try to look at the Time Cruisers models through the special glasses included in each set? The Twisted Time Train looks like the Metroliner with the green glasses and the 7740 Intercity train with the red glasses. Notice the (...) (26 years ago, 25-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)
