Re: Brickswest animation festival: how was it?

(...) I agree completely. Todd shouldn't have to bend over backwards. Also I was amazed to hear that some contestants weren't received until less than a week before the conference. There should be a deadline that is at least a MONTH before. If it's (...) (22 years ago, 20-Feb-03, to lugnet.events.brickswest, lugnet.animation)

Re: Brickswest animation festival: how was it?

(...) Yup, Todd, but you asked for constructive feedback, not attacks. I saw a lot of the latter today. (...) Sure, and I think you're doing a great job of taking the constructive criticism to put on better festivals in the future. If I were you, (...)   Re: Brickswest animation festival: how was it?

Tim, thanks for the positive comment, but I still need people to weigh in with their critiques. I have called for input before and no one has said anything. Maybe this upheaval will encourage others to get-it-off their chest and weigh in with (...) (22 years ago, 20-Feb-03, to lugnet.events.brickswest, lugnet.animation)

Re: Brickswest animation festival: how was it?

In response to Scott, but not necessarily directed at Scott but the whole community. (...) The problems with the Animation Festival were entirely mine and mine alone. No one else, not Matt, Tim, Ahui, no one, has any responsibility for the (...) (22 years ago, 20-Feb-03, to lugnet.events.brickswest, lugnet.animation)

Re: Brickswest animation festival: how was it?

(...) [snip] (...) Todd - your contributions are most certainly welcome by me and by many others. Please don't let the complaints of people who were not even in attendance bother you. I think you're doing a great job trying to improve future (...) (22 years ago, 20-Feb-03, to lugnet.events.brickswest, lugnet.animation)

Re: Brickswest animation festival: how was it?

In response to Greg's post... (...) Of the approximately 20 entries shown at BricksWest 2003, only 6 entries, amounting to less than 12 minutes running time (approximate) of over 110 mintues total running time were shown in this manner. All, and I (...) (22 years ago, 20-Feb-03, to lugnet.events.brickswest, lugnet.animation)

Re: Brickswest animation festival: how was it?

(...) I'm sorry that folks are upset at the videotaping process but as a non animator I was very very glad it was done. I'd rather see a videotape, even at degraded quality, instead of seeing someone struggle to play an animation, spending several (...)   Re: Brickswest animation festival: how was it?

Adrian, I am interested in exploring your idea for video like the one Eric and Jeff from RTL showed. Are you thinking about having LUGs and individuals create non-animated videos of their work? I think this would be a great idea. As for the filming (...) (22 years ago, 20-Feb-03, to lugnet.events.brickswest, lugnet.animation)

Re: Brickswest animation festival: how was it?

I appreciate everyone's zeal to know the results. Unfortunately, Internet access was not part of the venue and therefore the organizers of the festival would have had to incur greater expense to access the Internet to immediately post the results.   Re: Animation Competition 03

Seth, Here are some thoughts that I had from the three animation festivals that I have been envolved with. They are formed as responses to your post. (...) The reason I show every animation sent to me is that I am not comfortable deciding by myself (...) (22 years ago, 20-Feb-03, to lugnet.events.nwbrickcon, lugnet.animation)

Solicitation for ideas for BrickFest 2003 Animation Contest

There will be a Animation Competition at BrickFest. I am asking the body of animators now to submit to me or in this public forum ideas for the competition. The BW03 Competition had a comedy category. Other competitions have had Historical, Horror, (...) (22 years ago, 20-Feb-03, to lugnet.animation)

Re: Brickswest animation festival: how was it?

(...) I can't believe that they did that again (taped videos playing on a pc monitor)! My videos were a victim of this "process" at the BrickFest 2002 Animation Festival and I felt both embarrassed and furious at the way they were presented - (...)   Re: Animation Competition 03

Thanks for the suggestions. From everything that I've been hearing, I'm leaning more towards not showing every single entry at the actual Festival. My plan, as of now, is to find some time earlier that day when I could screen all of the films. This (...) (22 years ago, 20-Feb-03, to lugnet.events.nwbrickcon, lugnet.animation)

  Re: Animation Competition 2003

(...) Actually, a better solution is to have the animations pre-judged, and show only the best (which can include runners up). This way you can put together a 30-45 minute presentation that most folks will be willing to sit through. If space is (...)   Re: Brickswest animation festival: how was it?

Lemme chime in here with my opinion on the matter. This was the first animation festival I have ever attended, having missed last years. I was blown away, truely impressed with all the entries (thanks again Todd). Unfortunately the sheet that (...) (22 years ago, 19-Feb-03, to lugnet.events.brickswest, lugnet.animation)

Re: Brickswest animation festival: how was it?

(...) The issue here is that it is a rather delicate subject. Bill is correct, many of the offerings were greeted by healthy applause. There were significant issues, however, with the way things unfolded. I know a number of people were frustrated (...) (22 years ago, 19-Feb-03, to lugnet.events.brickswest, lugnet.animation)
