The exact same thing happened to German kids at my school some 20 years ago, I
still feel bad about some of the things which were said back then.
Back then the shops still stocked kid's comic's like "Warlord" & Commando -
violent comics packed full of "Nazi" cannon fodder. As a result, I grew up
thinking WW2 had just ended - and the German's were an evil bunch who were just
about to invade - little did I know they were just a bunch of sausage eating,
lederhosen wearing, thigh slapping, beer drinkers :-).
The truth is, WW2 is a huge emotive issue which is difficult to discuses
objectively. I think a great deal of it will be reassessed perhaps in 50 years
time - perhaps then we'll find there were bad guys on both sides?
I suppose the same can be said of the Gulf War, Vietnam and even the cold war.
How many people died throughout the world during the "cold war" - millions I
bet.
The talk of WW2 / Nazi's reminded me of this:

| Thank you. (...) I am German (living in Canada since I was 6) and was teased relentlessly in public school because of my heritage. It's a shame people cannot see the difference between Germans and Nazis. Additionally, my father was in the Luftwaffe (...) (24 years ago, 4-Jul-00, to lugnet.adventurers, lugnet.build.minifigs)
