Lugnet has gotten by just fine without moderators, but that's because
historically the admin(s) have been there to step in and say "don't do
that" and even delete messages if needed.  If it is expected that
admins will continue to play a less active role, as they have
recently, then moderation might be the answer.  However I'd rather
have active admin(s) than moderators.

I agree.  I was reading the 'top 1000 noisemakers' thread, one of them
referenced back to a post where Todd compiled a list of posters in the .cad
groups.  It made me recall when Todd was an active part of LUGNET on a daily
basis, and how much nicer it was around here then.  At the time he was an
active administrator who participated in the discussion, gently corrected
people when needed, enforced rules, and built relationsihps with the people
in the community.

I understand that since that time personal situations have come up.  I also
think LUGNET needs that kind of administrator, be it Todd or be it someone
else.  If it isn't going to be Todd, I'd like to see the courtesy extended
to us (some 1300 paying members) from Todd to say 'I'm not going to be
participating like that anymore, but here's __this person__ to fill my
shoes.'  So far (to my knowledge) no other admin has the power to restrict
peoples' access to the newsgroups, so that means, no real power when it
comes to a discussion admin.

Todd, please either step up or set someone else up to do this.
