I don't think a consensus has been reached(1). I for one consider it an
auction. However Todd has ruled that it isn't and that is sufficient. Under
Lugnet T&C this post is OK for .b-s-t
As much as I enjoy a good debate I don't see it as changing Todd's mind.
That's my opinion anyway.
1 - well, technically, it has. Consensus does not mean "everyone agrees", it
means "everyone is going to go along with the decision even if they personally
disagree". Given that I have gone along with it, I'm not sure that reopening
the issue, no matter my personal feelings, is a good use of time. Again, IMHO.
Not saying you're trying to reopen it. Merely clarifiying what I believe to be
true.

| (...) I don't recall saying that. :-( I remember putting forth the argument that an OBO sale was mathematically equivalent to a sealed-bid auction. (Two names for the same function.) Sealed bid auctions belong in .auction, and OBO sales belong in (...) (25 years ago, 1-Apr-00, to lugnet.admin.general)
