I started a thread a few weeks ago asking for a separate group for Ebay
auction announcements. What was the outcome? I thought that there were • some
good suggestions.

Eric and I did put a filter for Ebay auctions (in the title) and for our
favorite auction poster (that usually omits Ebay in their subject • headers).
This does filter out many (?) announcements, however, since this subject
came up it appears that more people are omitting Ebay from their subject
header.

I did not see your post. I do ebay auctions. Is this now the "done thing"?

We seem to be getting more Ebay announcements that slip through the
filter.

Mine may be a problem. As I usually link my auctions to a none ebay page
where all my auctions are listed.

If we aren't going to start a separate Ebay auction group can we at least
get people to put Ebay in their subject header?

An ebay only group may not be a good idea. But I think there _is_ a clear
split between ebay *type* auctions (ebay, yahoo etc) and private auctions.
This would also help those who do private auctions - as these can be a lot
of work?

Can we then have permission
to "spam" them with their own message if they continually "forget" to do
this? (smile)

(...) It's been the "done thing", to my knowlege, here and on RTL, ever since I started using LUGNET and RRTL about a year ago and therefore probably before that too. Kevin (25 years ago, 10-Mar-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

(...) What about: lugnet.market.auction - for *everything and everyone* - as it is now lugnet.market.auction.private - for those running, or wishing to support private auctions exclusively It's a lot easier to move private auctions than it is move (...)
