Ooh, cool. Could you implement some sort of cookie which would
automatically fill this in with the hours since last view or somesuch?

Hmm, that could be neat.  Alternatively, something that exists now -- and I
used this method for many many months -- is to view articles in "Brief" form
counting upwards rather than downwards.  For example, load this up:

   http://www.lugnet.com/?n=*115080,10&v=b

and then hit reload later to see if a "more" link appears (if it's not there
already)...  Then you can follow along going forward in time rather than
backward.  I used to cull things for the Spotlight that way by just keeping
a window like that open all the time and hitting reload every few hours and
skimming the new messages until I hit the end.  Then I'd check back again
later.

Is there an easy way to get a summary page with all the groups once they
go away from the home page? That might be useful to some.

Something like this?--

   http://www.lugnet.com/sitemap.cgi

or do you mean something showing article traffic as well?
