I don't think it is a problem if someone mirrored these groups in a
read-only manner (and it's probably not a bad idea to have mirrored
somewhere anyway) but if they started accepting articles, then things could
get pukey.

But if someone runs an NNRP server (I think that's the right terminology--?)
and acts as a normal NNTP client, then theoretically no problems will arise.
I think this is what Matt M. is looking into...(?)

I was pointing out though, that, when you get other servers caching
the groups that Dejanews and other archivers might get a hold of the
articles.
