Re: The name/purpose of the QOTD group —James Brown
(...) I think it is a naming thing. When I first see "QOTD" it interprets as "somewhere to put cool quotes I heard" without any accompanying "on LUGnet or RTL" being intuited by my brain. I think that what you may want to do, even though it goes (...) (26 years ago, 4-May-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: The name/purpose of the QOTD group —Todd Lehman
(...) That's what I was afraid of last week, but I didn't listen to my gut. Shame on me. Thanks for spelling this out. (...) Ahhh. The tense feeling that I've had in my stomach all day has just subsided. Your general approach sounds like an (...) (26 years ago, 4-May-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: The name/purpose of the QOTD group —Ed Jones
(...) well, not being a whiteboard user, it doesn't mean anything initially, but once I checked it out, I would easily determine what it was. But my preference would be simply - lugnet.off-topic.quotes - for everything that has been posted so far. (...) (26 years ago, 5-May-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

I guess I should have posted my messages about "Duel of the Fates" from the Star Wars soundtrack to .off-topic.fun instead. Todd, I guess (...) (26 years ago, 5-May-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: The name/purpose of the QOTD group —Jeremy H. Sproat
(...) Not stupid. I was thinking about this for the FAQ as well -- the ng charters are short enough that they would easily fit into the FAQ. Making them available on the Web interface might facilitate them becoming more available to the FAQ as well. (...) (26 years ago, 5-May-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

         Re: Charters —Tom McDonald
(...) I?) that when you had us look at that "mystery" page that that's what you were doing. One very small criticism of that style of page would be that I would rather see a longer list of posts, which might be handy for busier groups. I've grown (...)          Re: Charters —Todd Lehman
(...) Well, the longer listing won't be going away with this new layout -- this is just the 'homepage' for the group and it gives a short intro, and you'll still be able to get to the full (compact) listings from there. Notice at the bottom also (...) (26 years ago, 5-May-99, to lugnet.admin.general)
