Re: Darth Joules' alias (was: Re: Won't you give me one more try?)

Hi Richard! (...) To be frank (err, to be Shiri)... Aww, c'mon, gimme a break. Honestly, Richard; the one thing that makes lugnet so special and friendly and personal is the use of our real life names; the knowledge that people are here with honest (...)   Re: Darth Joules' alias (was: Re: Won't you give me one more try?)

(...) now there is little doubt. ;) Now that we know that he is breaking the ToS, we have to consider if it is worth bothering about (I can’t say I care). Given that he has two accounts here (one with his apparent real name and the other with his (...) (23 years ago, 15-Feb-02, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Darth Joules' alias (was: Re: Won't you give me one more try?)

Dosent this mean that is real name is clearly understood. He has given it out freely on Lugnet, and therefore under the TOS is allowed to post using an alias Excerpt of the relevant section: unless your real name and identity is clearly understood, (...)   Re: Darth Joules' alias (was: Re: Won't you give me one more try?)

(...) I noticed this as well. In the thread based on his original (first time to LUGNET) posting, it was pointed out to him the problem about a screen name vs. a real name. He dealt with it quickly and graciously. His real name, for all intents and (...) (23 years ago, 15-Feb-02, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Darth Joules' alias (was: Re: Won't you give me one more try?)

(...) From this post, I think it is evident that it is indeed a pseudomyn (URL) more, he was told to post using his real name, changed and has reverted to the pseudonym. Definitely worth noting. -Duane (23 years ago, 15-Feb-02, to lugnet.admin.general)

In fact, it was mentioned by at least two people in follow-ups to his original posting. No body seemed to mind back (...) (23 years ago, 15-Feb-02, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Darth Joules' alias (was: Re: Won't you give me one more try?)

I would feel much less comfortable around Lugnet without knowing people's names - I guess I am a very visual person and a name gives me a peg to hang a mental image on of the people whose posts I am reading and to which I am replying. I am not (...) (23 years ago, 15-Feb-02, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Darth Joules' alias (was: Re: Won't you give me one more try?)

(...) Yeah, I have to say I'm with Tanya on this. No offense to "Darth", but I'm less inclined to take seriously a post from a person going by a nickname anyway-- it's like people who name their pets after obscure literary characters and think (...)   Re: Darth Joules' alias (was: Re: Won't you give me one more try?)

Re: Darth Joules' alias (was: Re: Won't you give me one more try?)

Tanya: I am not disagreeing with your understanding of the TOS, but let me just throw in that I wish I had never used my real name to use lugnet. It's no real panic, but I am almost positive my full name and email address was collected from lugnet (...) (23 years ago, 15-Feb-02, to lugnet.admin.general)

Darth Joules' alias (was: Re: Won't you give me one more try?)

Darth Joules - I hate to be the voice of "the rules", but you are supposed to be using your real name, not an alias, unless that alias is understood to be a nickname or such and we all know what your real name is. I know this was discussed with you (...) (23 years ago, 14-Feb-02, to lugnet.admin.general)

Request to Consolidate newsgroups under LEGO Media

I would like to request that the subgroups under the LEGO Media group be collapsed. There are only 170 messages in all the subgroups by my count and those could be moved to the main LEGO Media group. Also, many of the newer LEGO Media/LEGO Software (...) (23 years ago, 13-Feb-02, to lugnet.admin.general)

(...) I don't want to start up anything here, but were his posting priviledges revoked? From what he's written on RTL, it sounds like that is the case. (URL) don't remember any issues with his name attached... -Duane (23 years ago, 11-Feb-02, to lugnet.admin.general)
